In mid-February, more than a year after I took delivery of my long-term 2009 Buell 1125CR, parent company Harley-Davidson came calling. I dodged them. Would this be the last American sportbike ever? Perhaps-in which case I was going to ride it as long as possible. On February 23rd, though, it was time to say goodbye... Seems they didn't want to give it back! Of course they didn't! Once you ride one, you start to understand what Erik was trying to accomplish, and no doubt that happened to these guys at Motorcyclist. Nice article, but it sounds like the CR was a commuter for them... don't know if they ever tried it on the track. I guess it doesn't matter, they still liked it enough to want to keep it, and that shows that they have begun to get what Buell is all about. Too bad so many are just starting to "get it", now that Buell is gone. I'm one of the lucky ones. I "got it" in '09 and I understand it even more now that I have a trackday with the Buell under my belt. |
