I just got back from the supermarket where the Jan issue of Cycle World is on the shelves. There's a 2 column article about the closure - doesn't really say anything new, just regurgitates the same HD press release rubbish we've read a bunch of times.

I like Cycle World and was hoping for a more substantive coverage. Hopefully they just were on a printing deadline and will dig a little deeper in subsequent issues.

That's the "puff sheet" for factories, best read at the store. Cameron is okay, IM not so humble O.

Cycle world also has an article in the same issue re: Buells winning in dsb and riding the RR. IMO the article scues the facts quite a bit. Going on with how the I4's are mathamaticly capable of 123 hp and the buell 173 giving them a 40-50hp advantage, when that simply isnt true. The Buell eng. is capable of that but in stock form makes 146 hp. the rr probably makes or exceeds that but not Eslicks 1125r. the whole idea of a co. building one bike to compete in both classes pisses off a lot a people. But I think the idea is good. HP to weight should give the buell an edge but not as great as the article would make it seem.If Eslick had a 40hp advantage he would have walked away on every long straight and that was not the case. So much for fair and balanced reporting. The RR is going to competitive for at least 2yrs. maybe more. Nothing against Cycle world but that article misrepresents the facts. It also sets straight all the misconceptions that the Buell was only competitive because of a hp advantage and was a poor turning bike(hard to change directions)I can't wait to get info. about EBR, will he still run his own team etc. Next year should be great if EBR can get racers to buy his bike.

S4? Really?

And the last few articles from Cameron may be showing some bias.

The bigger motorcycle mags/websites don't seem to want to stir the pot, nor the newspapers. The Barracuda II pic only seemed to get coverage on smaller independent motorcycle sites, whereas the EBR announcement got a lot of coverage of the official H-D press release...

Australian magazines don't seem so shy though... hehehe : D

Fast2win - Who wrote the article on riding the RR? Alan Cathcart has ridden it and had an accident but I haven't seen anything published yet.

I would love to read an Iron Horse story about this as in a 1995 vintage style. But the story is here now, dont need rags.

Has anybody bought KC's latest book, read the Foreword (guess who wrote that) or read the chapter about some guy (again, guess who) trying to start an independent racing motorcycle company back in 1985? Heck, even if you don't buy the book (you really ought to), read the Foreword on Amazon.com

I can't speak for KC - but it seems clear to me that any issue he might have is with the AMA/DMG/WTF.

The December Roadracing World has a great 1125RR article. The January issue has the (whatever it is called) mystery yellow bike on the cover.

His issue with DMG, seem's to insinuate Buell was deliberatly given an unfair advantage, and I just don't buy it. A lot of people seem to have the same opinion as his, and that's their opinion. I will stick to mine even if I'm in the minority. Power to weight of the Buell may have an advantage but it's not as great as what meet's the eye.

Has anyone seen or heard about an article supposedly written by Josh Hayes about his ride on an 1125RR? If so, what Magazine was it in?

That may be what I'm looking for. My information is second-hand.

One thing Cycle World got wrong is the way they guessed at the 1125rr's top HP. Engines don't make their top BMEP at their HP peak, that would be at peak torque. There it could have 195 BMEP but not at it's HP peak, probably 180 BMEP........
