Harley-Davidson did not become one of the most successful businesses in America and Buell did not become the ONLY "garage start-up" still standing by trial and error and hoping for the best. Weird- Johnson Controls to Harley. Johnson has a weirdly diverse product line; the article mentions their automotive seat division. I know they made seats for Chrysler at one time. I've mainly dealt with Johnson's Direct Digital Control (DDC) HVAC control systems. The controls work well, but they're known for being VERY proprietary (incompatible with other manufacturer's products). I'll trust your opinion of his value to HD/Buell Court. | ||

Johnson Controls is a very well run company and consistenly listed as one of the best places to work in the US. They are very well respected here in Milwaukee. They make auto interiors as well as batteries. They are big in the hybred market. Good company, I am excited abotu the guy. | ||

I agree Hugh....thats why we went Alerton....Not ALL of Johnsons acquisitions have been positive.... however ,change ,in this day is usually a good thing...hope he does WELL!! | ||

I think the Keith Wandell news is cool but I think the bigger news is that Matthew S. Levatich becomes President and Chief Operating Officer of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Matt is a Buell guy! | ||

I have huge respect for Matt and my experience, during the time I worked at Buell, proved to me that he is a super results sort of a person. Buell Motorcycle Company’s Planned Operational Consolidation As a part of company operational excellence efforts to reduce cost and improve efficiencies, today Buell Motorcycle Company made public its intention to consolidate operations from five leased facilities into one leased facility in East Troy, Wis. By moving our operations into one facility, we will spend less and eliminate waste which results in greater value to our customers. We anticipate Buell will move into the new leased facility in the first half of 2010. The new location will be just south of Buell’s current location, in the East Troy business park. Key to this consolidation plan is to sustain our highly valued, dedicated Buell workforce. five leased facilities Wow, I did not realize Buell had 5 leased facilities. I knew the motors were made at the HD plant but was unaware that other things were going on at other locations. Good stuff. | ||

Bad news a great guy Ron "hutch" Hutchinson is leaving after 30 years of service. He will be retiring shortly. I would like to send him best wishes. |
