ERIK BUELL APPOINTED TO AMERICAN MOTORCYCLIST ASSOCIATION BOARD
Friday, July 25th, 2008 - Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Press Release - Total Motorcycle - http://www.totalmotorcycle.com

On June 27, 2008, the American Motorcyclist Association officially appointed Erik Buell as a Corporate Member on the AMA board of directors. Erik is Chief Technical Officer and Chairman of Buell Motorcycle Company, wholly-owned subsidiary of Harley-Davidson, Inc. In 1971, Erik joined the AMA as a lifetime member.

Erik Buell's career with Harley-Davidson began in 1979 when he joined the Company as a Junior Test Engineer immediately following his graduation from the University of Pittsburgh. His background up until graduation included working in the motorcycle industry as a mechanic and service manager in a number of dealerships, as well as racing professionally in the American Motorcyclist Association series as an Expert rider. After joining Harley-Davidson, Erik continued his involvement in professional racing, while also working in a series of positions at Harley-Davidson, including Product Engineer, Project Engineer and Senior Project Engineer.

In 1983, Erik left the Motor Company to build his own Buell racing motorcycles. Recently Buell Motorcycle Company celebrated a quarter century of motorcycles in East Troy, Wisconsin.

"The AMA is currently going through a huge transformation into what leadership there believes will be a much better organization, poised to open up the world of motorcycling to more people. After going through my first board meeting, I can certainly say that all the members there are absolutely unified in helping make these changes happen. I am very honored by being chosen to be part of this by the AMA and HDI, and will do my best to apply my experience to deliver to the AMA goals," said Erik.
