HD sales are off in the US, so they have excess production capacity. With the weak dollar, it's unlikely they can produce HDs in Italy and save money. It makes more sense to let MVA produce their small volume of high end sport bikes in Italy, and for HD to keep producing cruisers in the US. Sport bikes like the MVA don't really compete with HD for sales. The person that desires a HD doesn't want a MVA, and vice versa.

I don't know about patents, but they make Tamburini designed bikes, simply beautiful.} The MGA is likely the fastest production bike on two wheels. Speed/power has always sold bikes.

The dollar is weak and american companies are being purchased because of the weak dollar. Good-bye Budweiser. HD just bought high. When the economy is bad load up your credit cards and triple mortgage the house. Made sense to millions of americans why not HD. Like diamler, I'll bet in 10 years they sell low if they don't cripple themselves so much the get bought out. Maybe a Chinese company or Royal-Enfield India. GM, Ford, Chrysler all in the crapper - HD is just doing what all American Companies do, follow the pack, right off the cliff.
