The reporter is actually able to see past the number plates and review the bike. Who'd of thunk it?

Like a heat-stroked renegade cowboy with a bad attitude, Buell's Lightning Super TT kicks open the doors of the saloon, smacks the barmaid on the ass, downs a double-shot of liver-killer, lays a smoky burnout around the piano before rolling into the street, burning out sideways, flat track style, and heading due west into the sunset waving a middle finger in the air.

But think of the children!

Thanks for posting this Blake. I love that first paragraph...now that is creative writing!

It looks like Erik and Co. are gradually coming back to the more sane specs of the tuber, model by model. This one has 23.1 degrees rake and 4.7" of trail, with a 54" wheelbase. That is a lot closer to my S2 (or my Ducati for that matter) than it is to the radical 21 degrees and 52" wheelbase specs of the standard Lightning. As can be seen from the well written article, the result is a very stable bike that performs marvelously in a variety of situations. Erik's genius strikes again.

The biggest challenge will be for HD dealerships to figure out how to sell it...which has always been the weakest link.

I road one of these last Friday, back to back with the Uylsses. I came away with some good and some bad, I do think it will be a Hooligans dream, it is fast and for the most part stable, and will wheelie easier than most bikes. On the negative, the fan is loud and always on, drove me nuts, while I did not even hear the fan on the Uly. At idle there were major vibrations in the bars, probably would gt used to it, the gearing seamed a bit long, could benifit from a different gearing, maybe a equivelent of a smaller front sprocket? Last, if you are not really leaning into the handlebars and weighting the front while you accelerate hard you will feel the front get real light, a bit unnearving. Many will like this though!!!
Riding position s very comfortable and very good for handling. I think this bike will sell more than the city and maybe more than the lightning itself. Just do not confuse it with the Uly. It is not... My dealer was comparing it to the Uly. This bike and the Uly are worlds apart, not that this is bad, because the purposes are completly different, do not let the fact that they look similar fool you. The TTR is way more race and sportbike than Adventure touring.

I test rode in the 'other direction', a TT and a CG. The CG was bone jarring and on a gravel road we hit the TT was outstanding (surely due to those Uly tires). For 98% of us riders out there, the TT is more than enough 'sportbike' and a great all weather beater. Even the sales guy couldn't believe the difference !

I demoed the TT a last week. Me likey!!! It is a little shorter (heightwise) than the Uly. Not sure about how the Uly bags attach. The number plates on the sides of the TT do come off very easily and I can see someone coming up with a way to attach some type of bags there pretty easily...

I demoed the TT as well a couple of months back. I really didn't care for the looks of the bike before but after the ride, I would consider buying the bike. I liked the handling and overall feel of the bike.
