Ok so we know that the XBRR has an overseas presence (Daytona Race Teams & Riders)..... Do you think that Buell will spring that their going to IOMTT????

To the best of my knowledge NO BUELL has ever run the event.

That would be cool, don't think the bike could be competitive there as it is very much a top speed kind of place.

I am sure the organizers would let it run in the Senior TT as that is a class with it's own set of rule independent of any established classes. It allows World Superbike or perhaps British Superbike bike to run plus pretty much anything else the organizers wish.

Teh Norton rotary won this one year I think with Hislop up. The Britten ran in this also. Pretty high hurdle for the RR but it would be cool.

But it's got the best geometry for it IMO... The XB was made to be a street bike. I think it would be very nice to see McWilliams run the Warrs "RR" there...

I would love to see McWilliams running the "RR" around Glen Helen or over Ago's Leap... A few shots flat out after Brey Hill. HARD on the brakes coming down Union Hill.

Maybe a curb shot pointed down-track after the crossraods...

That would be a Duke video I would buy for sure...

Not sure you could entice McWilliams to run the TT at this stage on any bike. A very dangerous place to race.

XB has the handling but not sure it has enough HP to run all those miles in the 150 - 190 mph range. Most of the track rewards very high speed handling, top speed and the ability to pull hard out of 150 mph uphill turns. Not sure the RR would be the package for that.

Maybe not, but it would be cool and it would get me to the TT... If they didn't run it in the senior, it would be best suited in the 600 race.

McWilliams was an Irish road-racer yes? He has the balls...

Added to the Buell, to the best of my knowledge McWilliams has never run the event but is Irish (Therefore has the genetic coding to compete at IOM)

Like Daytona, which is known to be hard on machines, it would make a statement more then anything. Coverage of the event has got much better over the years.

Personally I think that is by far the single most insane "event" on the face of this planet.

The Britten ran in this also.

And because of the result Buell is wise to forget the TT.

The RR is not eligible for the 600cc class. It only runs that here because of the Formula Extreme rules.

The TT is pretty dangerous. It is more dangerous that Daytona but Daytona is also pretty dangerous. It has been made much less so because of the dropping of the north banking form the track. With the north banking I think it is about the most dangerous place to race in the world.

"The RR is not eligible for the 600cc class. It only runs that here because of the Formula Extreme rules. "

Obviously ;). But at one point the XB wasn't eligible to run in FX either...

In any case, I would like to see someone run the TT on a Buell. I really could care less if they're running with the side cars : ).

The XBRR wouldn't be competitive with the sidecars. Not even with a working slipper clutch.

Incidentally, and I'm sure Dave has this written down somewhere here and he'll correct me if I'm wrong, a Barton engined sidecar has already competed at the TT and came home in 2nd place.

I'd like to see the Uly run Dakar.

The XBRR probably has plenty of HP if running in an appropriate class.

Big twins were outlawed at Dakar in 2005. You would have to build a Blast 660 motor and put it in a Uly frame.

http://www.dakar.com/2005/presentationus/r3_nouveautesreglement.html

• Prohibition on twin cylinder machines of more than 450 cc.

I thought that rule was going to be repealed. I could have imagined in discussion with Pete or something though.

Pete?

This year the rule still existed, but the rumour mill has BMW trying to get the HP2 allowed for the next Dakar.
Should know within a few weeks if it's based on fact or not.

Thanks for the clarification. I hope they rescind the displacement limit. At least for the air-cooled machines. : )
