Rocket, again, no offense intended...

Build it, and they will come if you honestly think you are capable.

At this point in the conversation, I see you doing nothing but chest thumping, and speculation. I'm sorry if you're offended by this, or my previous comments. But you're trivializing Hals involvement in Buell racing. But this comment from you, pretty much sums this conversation up...

"Hal's have nothing more than I have at my disposal other than Buell experience and some 'inside' connections they can probably draw upon."

It's those 2 key areas that give credibility to Hals. Again, why didn't Buell come to you for design/racing advice instead of Hals? Since you seem to think you're just as capable. Do you have experience with fuel injection maping/engine controls? Suspension technology? Aerodynamics? Etc...

Just ask Trojan why he uses Hals ram air setup, and had heads done by them. I'm sure he would have saved time, and some $$$ on shipping across the big pond, if you were so ultra capable at doing the same thing. : )

It's this point in the conversation, I have to say, "talk is talk, and bullsh** walks..."

On another note, nobody said $40K was the magic number for a Hals Ciccotto replica. It was a number thrown out there as speculation about the cost of Leno's bike by Slaughter. I'm quite sure you can get a Ciccotto replica for quite a bit less.

I have no desire to build, race or otherwise, anything Buell with even half of $40,000. Not even if you pay me.

My taste for an engineering challenge lie else where these days thanks. I've moved up a level or three.

My comments were merely an answer to this ridiculous crap, Really? "do you think it would be all that easy? Hals has years of experience and testing in their racebikes, and it would take a rocket scientist to duplicate it...oopps, I guess you are, huh?". Seeing as it was a question, and the undertone was condescending towards my own abilities, that frankly no one here knows f all about, I answered.

Building a race Buell, replica or real deal, does not take rocket science nor years of experience with the product in my opinion and own experience. That is not chest pounding, just fact. That's all.

Maybe I'm just an ...

So I googled your name and came up with a post about sending Pete to Dakar, Some Def Leopard lyrics (terribly sorry for that one I might add...), A link to www.freezepop.com (ok, yeah, sorry for that one too... but it WAS the third link), and an indication of a "last" place in some sort of "modified Harley" drag race (You managed a a 518 reaction time though).

Let's see...

I google Hal's and get... Yeah... well... You know...

Links to Drag wins, road course racing, a link to a company called Horsepowerinc that apparently uses Hals for something or other (I didn't read into it), some Buell racing stuff, some Harley engine building stuff etc...

Maybe if you went out and built something that we could see we would know F all about your abilities? I'm not saying you suck by any means... I mean really... somehow you have Def Leopard lyrics attached to your name. That has to be worth something right?

So what is your point? You wish me to get my dick out and measure it or something?

Us Brit's, especially so us Yorkshire folk, aren't in the chest pounding or bragging business.

My apologies for under achieving, but in my defense I have to admit to having a good life.

Incidentally, that little drag race you refer to, the two Buells in front of me were drag race prepped monsters, one of which was the fastest in the world down the 1/4 mile, on street tyres and no wheelie bars from a stock displacement. In fact I don't think its time has been beat yet. Yeah I came third out of a handful, which is more than you did.

If you need to see my credentials, ask Ron Dennis or Eddie Jordan, but now I am bragging.

Wow. This testosterone is better than pump gas. I wish I could bottle it and put it in my Buell.

"So I'm over sensitive because someone questions my ability to build a race bike with forty grand in my back pocket?"

No. You're oversensitive, or at least you come across that way to me, due to the way you respond. Be self assured and laugh it off. I happen to have a good idea of the tone you take and so know that you are not a hostile screaming lunatic, but your words - maybe its the Brit-to-Yank language barrier - come across that way. Take it from someone who knows.

Imonabuss,
Yes whacked out at times, brilliant and endearing at others, a true blue friend and swell guy at heart. If you ever met him you'd like him. Not like me at all. : )

Rocket what you wrote is maybe right for a Buell only, but not for the Buell/HD class.

The record for Harley Street (no wheeliebars, limited wheelbase, pumpgas, no nitro etc., roadlegal tires, onboard electricstarter, functionally lamps etc.) is holding the Hillbilly-Motors-Motors Dragraceteam powered by M-TeK with rider Stefan Graff. Time 9,60 @ 226.

http://www.hillbilly-motors.com/html/harley_street_rekord.html

We have done, as the first bike in Europe, the time under 10 last year several times in Drachten/Netherlands and Vandel/Danmark. You are right that it tooks 5 years for the community in Europe to beat the magic 10.00 time, but our bike is able to go that time with an old 4 Speed engine in a Sportsterchassis. A Buellframe is 10 kg lighter.....

Yes, Buell only Jens. A trick S1 no less. 10.49 if memory serves.

No Blake, whacked out is bang on the money. That's why people like Erik Buell would pay attention to me if he were here. He too might think I'm crazy, but he'd bloody well know I'm right I do not speak with forked tongue. Bring me the forty G's or the head of Bueller Slaughter.

Didnt this thread have something to do with cushdrive???

I think the real issue is what other bike do you see such a wide range of modifications??? I know alot of Metric Stunta's polish and paint and a bunch of bolt ons, but really, Guys are constantly grinding, filing and messing with these HD & Buell engines/bikes. I dont have any money and always worked with what I got so I cant comment about $40K bikes, but I can say it feels good putting the grinder to something, welding a creation or using a dremel and the result is a few extra mph or hp digits and THAT feels great.

As far as results I won and placed well in a bunch of races on bikes that shouldnt have even been on the grid, I really believe that some forms of racing take more heart then HP or $$.(The latter does help however)

Hats off to anyone whether they spend $100K or $1 As long as their having fun WHO CARES.... (All figures USD)

And if you want to research a guy that got unbelievable results from a scrap pile do a search on Burt Munro....
