I have a question,Why were they not able to get a part from the factory in time for the debut of the XBRR,racing in the biggest race of the year?Doesn't sound to good to me.

What are you talking about, pup? Your question doesn't make sense. I don't see anything about parts not being available.

"He also mentioned that the timing wheel on McWilliams' bike was a one-off custom piece made by laser cutting because the factory replacement part couldn't be delivered in time. The laser cutting process produced a sharp corner which lead to fatigue failure at this point. The factory part wouldn't have had a problem."Do a little reading, then my question will make sense.

The vendors had not delivered those parts yet. At least that's what I was told.

Aaah, that's the problem. I have read all the threads, and what was originally said was this, I think. The correct timing wheel that the factory had designed had not come from the supplier, so the factory had to get a handful of special parts laser cut in order to get the bikes to Daytona.

I don't know why the Buell team needs to worry about clutches, Rocket is on the case!

Sounds to me like you're on Rocket's case!

Don't you have something better to do?

"Sounds to me like you're on Rocket's case! "

Well, one reaps what one sows! Rocket has been VERY vocal about how much better he COULD do than the Buell racing team. I am simply for taking him up on his generous offer to design and produce a superior clutch for our team Buell!

"Don't you have something better to do?"

One could ask you the same question. I think Rocket can defend himself quite nicely thank you!

No you're not. You just took a cheap shot at him on a thread in which he hasn't even posted.

And my post was not in his defense. It was exactly what it seemed: don't you have better things to do with your time than taking cheap shots like that?

don't you have anything better to do than criticize my posts? If you don't like them, move on.

You need reading lessons Bruce. I offered my more than capable services for a price. What makes you think I can't deliver?

As for Buell, when any manufacturer goes racing they are REAPING WHAT THEY SOW. So, live by the sword - die by the sword.

It is not what I think that matters here R-man, but those of the Buell race team. If you can convince them to buy a clutch from you, I would be the first one to stand up and salute you.

Actually, that would be pretty cool. Who has the Buell race team email address?

Anon?

Buell's address is easy to find. If Mr Know-it-all can convince Buell with his detailed resume that his experience in slipper clutch work is superior to that of FCC and STM and HM, all of whom have tried and failed so far on the XBRR, I am sure they will sign him right up.

Not even close, those were for less than half the horsepower. They wouldn't even work at 100HP.

how much torque did the KRTT's have? my understanding is higher torque is harder on slipper clutches?

XBRR has much, much more torque, but HP counts too on clutches especially when slipping because it adds to the heat that needs to be rejected.

I'd like to see the STM unit that didn't work.

Did STM adapt a Ducati clutch specially for you, or did you adapt one of STM's for yourselves?

Bet you don't answer these question either.

I find it hard to believe STM would go to the lengths of a special build for the XBRR, and have it fail.

As for me, my talents don't get to building slipper clutches, but obviously yours don't either. The difference is between me and you though, if I were in your position I'd have made absolutely certain, especially so knowing how high the toque is on the XBRR, that I'd have had that detail well covered by having the problem sorted well before I went racing at such a huge home market event. Hey but that's just me.

Whilst you continue to pull me to pieces simply because I offered some criticism of Buells 200 effort, I have an incline that you're kicking yourself really. You know you could have got McWilliams to the finish, and I've hit upon a sore point.

Tell me anon, how long before you run away from this thread like you do most others when I rattle your cage? Would that be after you've chucked enough personal insults my way, or you've run out of excuses?

Once again, I'm no expert, but what I read into those posts above is that this RR engine is one strong mutha!

(Any chance at a peek at the dyno sheet? ??

OK, that's asking for just a little too much... I know.)

For me, the future is now even more exciting.

Rocket,

Yep, so far the special STM clutches that they have custom made have failed, as have all other brands. And since not having a slipper clutch is not why Jeremy DNF'd, I have no idea why you are babbling. You certainly love to hear yourself talk.

We "could have" gotten Jeremy to the finish? What kind of ridiculous statement is that? If we could have we would have.

Now while you rant on about your prowess and our stupidity, those of us who do rather than talk will get on about our business. So, guess we'll just have to "run away".

Um Rocket, my friend. Your carbon wheel died because you had your belt too tight. That's not a good indication of attention to detail...: )

Just build your slipper clutch for the Buell.
I bet if it works, not only will you get paid extremely well for it, you'll be glorified for eternity, and ain't that what this is all about? ;)
