1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th

Oh how I would love it if the race turned into a battle of the Buells for those 4 spots.

With teams running new bikes on new tracks, some with new riders. It would be an accomplishment for all 4 Buells to finish the Daytona 200.

A podium finish would be a historic event, along the lines of Carol Shelby winning the 24 hours at LeMans in 1965, the first year of the Ford GT40.

Yeah, me too!. However, I don't think that'll happen. The Factory Hondas and Yamahas will be making some serious HP, and they've got the likes of DuHamel, Zemke and DiSalvo. Miguel, especially, is extremely fast at Daytona.
But it sure would be cool!

while the black would be cool, indeed, most racing scoots are much brighter (there used to be a reason, before the days of transponders)

other than the Army of Darkness, the last team to rinde in black that I remember was Honda at the Isle of Man (long far ago) to recognized the death of a rider . . . .

Ferrari Blacked out the nose of their F1 cars twice in the last five years. Once for the USGP in Indy just after 9/11 and the other when Enzo passed last year.

I don't think the Buells should run in black.

I think any color is fine for a bike, as long as it's black ;)

If the XBRR's can go the distance I can see at least one of the Buell riders on the box at the end of the race. If the reported 178 mph can be believed it would make the XBRR 7 mph faster then the fastest 600 FX bike at last December's Daytona tire test (the Yamaha at 171 according to Road Racing World). I can see a rule change mandating a displacment reduction (1200 or 1250 maybe)for air cooled twins in the very near future.

They didn't say 178 MPH on the Daytona track. They just said 178 MPH. Could have been down an airport runway or something.

I truly hope that Buell does hand the established teams the beating of their lives.

Having said that, and I know there are a lot of very smart people working on this project, I hope that the bikes survive the 200.
This race is as much about attrition as it is about high speeds.

I think surviving the 200 is far more important than hitting 178 on the banking, or anywhere else for that matter.

I will be heading down for the CCS/ASRA races and I'm really looking forward to (hopefully) seeing and hearing the XBRR on the track for developement.

Here are a few more - Picotte seems very interested in the progress of his Buell team. Those years as a factory HD rider must have been pretty lucritive. He also has another rider joining him on his Canada factory Yamaha team.

So uhhh... That thing on the low side that looks like it's sticking out of the front axle...

What is it? A spool that will somehow facilitate a quick change? It looks as if there are two sets of spools on the swingarm too?

On a side note...

IF they were concerned about brake fade... How much would it help to route the line forward to the lower attachment point on the fender, then a largish loop around to just inside the right side fork? That would get the line into clean air just above the caliper and if mounted right would minimize the torque applied to the banjo... I suspect they aren't really worried about brake fade though, and I really don't know how much that would help in any case... Rubber is a pretty good insulator yes? I like those axle sliders quite a lot...

I need to get a set of Ohlins forks too : ).

What kind of gloves are those? I'm assuming A-Stars seems how everything else is...

I think someone should mount a Duhamel bobble-head on the tail section facing rearwards...
