Jeremy is undoubtedly an extremely talented and experienced world class rider, and one that I have a lot of respect for seeing as he was the last Brit to win anything at GP level, but wouldn't it be better for the future for Buell to try and recruit one of the young US home grown hot shots that are very exciting at the moment. Can you imagine what Hacking, DiSalvo or any of the Haydens could do on the XBRR? There must be a potential superstar lurking in the Superstock or Supersport ranks right now just waiting to be offered a great deal by Buell.
If this is the start of a long development programme it would make sense to get a young 'un on board sooner rather than later.

I've written to Hannover as well.. it's a bit different from the note to Warrs.. I used a translation software to put it into German. If you choose to do this, please mention it so they will understand you are not a native speaker(write?) and make allowances for this. Also, add the original English text, so they can do a 'proper' translation.. just in case.

Trojan, since the RR is still in development, McWilliams could play a crucial role in Buell's sucess. How about McWilliams in the older, wiser veteran role and Alastair Seeley in the young up in coming role. Seeley was riding it like he stole it!

That's an expensive T-shirt. With shipping, it's going to be over $50

Yes, thats kind of steep. Now if I could get McWilliams to autograph the shirt ...

Ciccotto will get the job done. The Japan Inc facotry teams and their major factory supported teams comprise a juggernaut of talent and they recruit directly from the best of the club racers. Suzuki alone has Yosh, then M4 Emgo, then Matsushima Perf, then Millennium/KWS, then Jordan, then... it is mind boggling the talent that the factory teams and their farm teams are able to gather up. It's no different for Honda and not much different for Yamaha and Kawasaki.

If Michael Sanchez is healthy again and available, he would be a great young prospect. He is very smart, well spoken, extremely determined, and has an incredible work ethic.

Michael showed up on short notice, qualified a Superstock spec GSXR1000 22nd in a field of 41 and finished 17th in the Superbike race. This after missing all of 2005 due to injury. The boy can flat out ride. You don't win 11 CMRA championships in your second year of motorcycle road racing without being a major talent. If there is another Buell team looking for a rider, please consider contacting Michael Sanchez.

I doubt that Jeremy will ride any more this year. He still has hope of getting back to MotoGP and if that fails probably has a backup in the BSB series.

That said he is not only a great rider but one of the smartest. I would have to say that EVERYONE on the Buell team from Erik on down learned things from the man. After just a handful of laps at Daytona he was passing on info to all the teams and riders that made them faster. His abilty to process information adn pass it on to the engineers was invaulable and in my opinion The XB's would have struggled to qualify in the top 15 with out his efforts.

I suspect his feedback alone was worth 4-5 seconds a lap. Not many young guys can do that and not many old guys are fast enough to be able to find the things that need to be changed.

With McWilliams & Seeley on board sponsorship from Guiness or Busheys should be a foregone conclusion then : )

That Seely kid was fast. First time at Daytona, runs the small closed tracks in Ireland. He was 9th in Supersport just .04 or so behind Picotte and the top true privateer. I think he may have been running the same bike in FX and qualified in the top 15. Crashed out on lap six.

He did run the same bike in FX. It was one of Jason DiSalvo's rigs from the previous season. Picotte had all he could do to shake him in the Supersport. Seely is only 26 years old. If, in fact, McWillaims doesn't want to finish out the season with Buell, Seely would be a solid replacement. I would be on the horn with him first.

How about these guys for a full time Buell FX ride?:

Will Gruy:
10th in FX, 14th in Supersport at Daytona, 1st in Team Challenge at Daytona on a 600 Yamaha. 1st in West Coast 125GP and 2nd in National 125GP in 2005.

Ryan Ellerby:
11th in FX & 15th in SS at Daytona. Spotted by Larry Pegram last year as a future star.

Or even Robertino Pietri: 7th in the Superstock race at Daytona and son of a former AMA champion?

These are all young racers unsigned by big teams who would surely jump at the chance of a decent 'semi-factory/top privateer team' (don't start on me for that) ride in a top US series.

Last I heard Doug Chandler was still available and still running pretty fast laps at Kawasaki's ZX-10 intro at Fontana. He also has quite a resume including GP and being 3 time AMA Superbike champion. His smooth style could suit the XB project as well as his set up and development experience.
Also, Muzzy's had an inactive link on their website with Roadracing News that said coming soon...any one hear anything on them starting a Buell team like they did in drag racing?

MUZZY, now that would be a dream come true. I was there when he ushered in the winning season of the 1989 ZX-7. Chandler and he autographed the one I had just rode up to Brainied, Mn. from Fla. in 1989. I guess they figured anyone crazy enough to ride one cross-country deserved an autograph. TRUE STORY. They actually thought maybe they were devaluing the bike by signing it. Too bad I didn't clear coat and keep it forever. MUZZY roadracing a BUELL RR, NOW that's a winning formula. Muzzy is the MAN.

I posted a comment on Jeremy McWilliams web site the other day. It seems that John Warr (the owner of the dealership that sponsored McWilliams) read it. He emailed me this morning.

I think I just moved from "fan" to "rabid fan."

Buellistic sez:

True, but don't stop there as there is a whole season left. McWilliams would be the correct rider picked for Warr's entire racing effort. He would be the correct rider for Suzuki if Matt Mladin quit, for that matter. Or for MotoGP's Nickey Hayden if he were to quit. He is just that good!

But I like the way you are thinkin'

Not so much a thing for Ireland as the fact that there is an available veteran (McWilliams) and a once available upcomming star (Seeley).

I was sitting in the stands with the guys who were with Seeley...we even talked some. Nice folks, all of them. He even had me rooting for his boy! I couldn't understand them very well...what a brogue...I was wondering if we were speaking the same language sometimes. I guess he probably thought the same about my KY accent.
