The 98 bike painted up Harley colors is interesting. Should we reopen the discussion "Is a Buell a Harley?"

That guy with the pony tail was wearing a Talladega Testing Facility shirt all weekend.

That's Dan Hurda, Buell's chief engine interface engineer. He's responsible for the calibration of all the Buell street bike injection systems, among other things. And, no, he wouldn't exactly fit well into a more buttoned-down corporate environment.

The 98 bike is Buell of Frederick, MD's Brian Bemisderfer, who finished second in the Thunderbike race.

How does Buell get guys like Dan Hurda? You wouldn't expect an MIT grad to be a racing enthusiast and a dang smart motorhead.

Looks kinda/sorta like Matt Rassmussen from the back in the yellow T-shirt. Us engineering geeks tend to seek each other out.

There are some WAAAAAY cool and WAAAAY smart and WAAAAY capable folks at Buell besides the man hisself.

It's a good team all around.

>>>he wouldn't exactly fit well into a more buttoned-down corporate environment.

That's an accurate statement. Dan has been a fixture at Buell for a number of years and, even if you don't realize it yet, we are lucky to have him there. . . ponytail, black t-shirt and all.

: )

By the way. . . Elves are tracked by when they loose their ponytails.

I lost my ponytail years ago... My wife cried when it happened.. (it was the second time in my life I had it cut off).. Remind me sometime to tell you the story(s)... (with Courts kinds permission to use his 'tag line'..)

Hmmmm.. Brians' Bike (98), I still have to drop a note to Frederick HD for not telling us they were going racing again... I think I saw McWilliams' ride (99) Anyone got shots of all four 'RR's in their fully dressed glory yet? Just wondering if there are color changes for each bike, or if the colors are identical? (we talked about this earlier didn't we?)

Does anyone know what channel the race will be on come wed? Or will it even be broadcast? If anyone knows let me know, i would like to record it. Also, the first race, did anyone record that and willing to make a copy and send to me? Thanks!

And this has been a very exciting time. Makes me proud to own a Buell.
