Wooaahhh!!! Man, that thing looks utterly wicked in black.

The bodywork looks significantly different in at least one area from the previous publicity photos. It appears they have "tucked in" the bodywork at the bottom of the bike tightly around the muffler. Hmmmm......

Look at DiSalvo's trick FX forks - just your standard SuperSport fare

Funny how people scoffed at the XBRR's pricetag - after you bought those forks you'd probably already be halfway thru the XBRR's MSRP.

Not quite, it's only $11,000 per set for those forks...what a shame those poor factory guys have to race their "stock" stuff against privateers on XBRRs. Waaaah! My heart bleeds.

This is more because I just watched CSI than anything else.

See the wheelie picture? How fast is the bike going? Lets see if we can guess.

The picture contains some "extra" data saved by the camera. On thing it tells us is the exposure time is 1/319 of a second.

Now take a look at the rear wheel:
clip

See how the spoke looks like a triangle? The point of the triangle occurs where the wheel rotates the width of the spoke over the exposure time of the picture.

The edges of the rim are 100 pixels apart. I'm going to assume thats 17 inches because I don't have an accurate way to measure. The point is 10 pixels inside the rim, which means its inset 1.7 inches. Subtracting this off each side gives 13.6 inches.

I measured the spokes on my uly. They are 1.75 inches across. I also measured the spokes another XBRR picture by counting pixels, and it was close to 1.75.

So what we have is a circle that's 13.6 inches in diameter, which rotates through 1.75 inches of its circumference in 1/319th of a second. Or to put it another way, it rotates 1/48.82 of the way around in 1/319th of a second. Which means the wheel is turning 6.5 times per second.

Counting pixels again, it appears that the tire is 23.8 inches in dimeter. This means the bike goes 149.5 inches each time the tire rotates, or 977 inches per second. Which is 81.4 feet/sec. Which is 55.5 mph.

I'm sure I made a mistake in there somewhere, but I think it's cool anyway. Besides, now you can see if you can find any.

I did ignore the curved path the spoke travels, but I think thats safe to do.

That looks like Mike's toe slider, not the belly pan that is scraping. Mike Ciccotto is an animal on a Buell race bike. He well could win the race. Go Mike!

The dirty swingarm looks to be from exhaust spewage and the kicking up of road grime especially during right turns.

Jim,
Way too cool! I love it! : D

I don't see any 'privateer' XBRR's entered for Daytona. Is it just a coincidence that we get 4 'private' Buell XBRR teams entered, one from the US, GB, Canada and Germany, all good target markets for Buell, and with an ex-GP rider as well? I think not. These 4 bikes are as factory as it gets, regardless of the name on the fairing. No shame in that either.

Sorry, Trojan, oh great Buell supporter that disses Buell so frequently, but these are absolutely private teams.

There was a small batch of eight Validation level bikes scheduled for builld in late January/early February, and the decision was made to sell bikes to four successful Buell dealers worldwide, so they could be raced at Daytona. Good choice by the factory? I think yes. But not factory teams by any measure normally used.

The factory has helped drum up sponsorship for the teams, and contingencies in cash and product for them and other Buell teams. Who those sposors are and what they are going to provide will be announced soon

If there was a factory team, the bikes probably would have the 11,000 forks, plus titanium everything, plus plenty more and be unaffordable to any privateer. But we don't believe in that.

Read the post again oh anonymous one. I am not dissing Buell at all. What I am saying is that there is an awful lot more factory involvement in this than just a bunch of dealers doing their own thing and racing at Daytona. Dealers don't privately book a whole test facility for themselves, with factory staff present. I cannot see what the problem is by admitting that they are factory backed teams? Why so sensitive and secretive about it?

Here is a quote from the Warr's web site, maybe you should tell them that they are not factory backed?

MotorCycle Grand Prix star Jeremy McWilliams has signed a deal that will see him competing in the 2006 Daytona 200 in March as a Team Warr rider. The British rider, the last Brit to win a bike GP, will be riding the all-new factory backed Warr's Buell XBRR.

Surely the more information that comes our way the better, we are all supporters of the brand after all, contrary to what you may think.

Jim,Way too cool! I love it!

Thanks! Unfortunatly, I realized this morning that I made a mistake. I neglected the forward motion of the bike, which is also contributing to the movement of the spoke (or whatever that thing is called.)

Let's not get all pissy over semantics boys. "Factory Backed" is not a "Factory Team"

Sure these 4 dealers are getting support from the factory so they are not purely "Private" but they are certainly not owned by the factory nor paid for by the factory. They got invited to a test the factory had to do anyways in order to design the bike and assure that it would work for the job.

The dealers are paying the frieght not only to buy the bikes but to hire the riders, buy the tires, pay for gas and hotel rooms etc. The factory will support them to a greater extent than Honda supports privateers BUT Buell has always done that to one extent or another.

In my book a FACTORY team has a bike owned by the factory, with riders, mechanics, managers hired by the factory. The factory pays all the bills, the team shows up to work.

These Buell teams are not anything like a factory team Honda or Ducati would put forth. They are another unique Buell thing.

You can call then factory supported if you like BUT while it is a huge amount of support for a private effort it is private. Paid for by the Dealer and the dealer keeps any monies the can collect for sponsership, prizes, etc.

And speaking of money, I can assure Honda has more money in DuHamel's bike than the 4 dealers have in these 4 bike added together.

Kick ass Jlnance : ).

I'll bet if we can figure out how much Jeremy McWilliams weighs we can figure out exactly how much G force he's pulling in that one pic from behind him mid-corner on Warr's page : ).

This one...
