Buell needs some help with the RR project. No they are not looking for test riders. Those of you who have been to Daytona know how few people actually go to the races. One of the goals for this bike is to get more people to watch the races. We need to talk this up among our friends and at the dealers. Many HD dealers will be sending a group to Daytona and most will cruise Main Street, check out the coleslaw wrestling and hit the bars. Most will not go to the speedway to watch races. We need to get these dealers pumped up about taking on the Japanese and get them to the races. Any and all ideas for how to do this are appreciated. If the AMA sees a nice bump in the attendance the future eligibility of the XBRR is assured. Talk it up! |

It'd be cool if all the Badwebbers, there are many of us, each e-mailed all the Harley-Davidson dealerships in a 50 mile radius to say . . . "Hey, check out the attached picture. I'm excited about the prospect of an Air-Cooled American V-Twin once again thundering around the banking at Daytona. Harley-Davidson has a long legacy at Daytona. Buell owners are coming from around the world and I knew you'd want to let your Harley-Davidson customers headed to Daytona know....AMERICAN PRIDE IS BACK." |

Great idea Court. You should be able to get emails off the dealers web sites. Download a picture off the Buell web site and go to town. |

I personally am going specifically to see the XBRR. I am also taking my GF, my best friend and his GF. That’s four of us that might not otherwise have gone this year. I am also getting the word out to other motorcyclist that I know that this is going to be a great year at the 200 (if I am wrong I’ll never live it down). |

Hi Dave, you are so right. Not only for the USA. We try to push the interest of Buell riders since years with race / trackreports and on trackdays. Also Buell and some Buell Dealers here are very engaged in Racing and Trackdays. The XBRR is a great chance. The people like to see and here that bike roaaaaaring. Our support is online. http://www.hillbilly-motors.com/html/buell_xbrrportal.html Jens |

Jens, And with a German Buell team at Daytona with a German rider (Rico Penzkofer), maybe we will see some German enthusiasts at the 200 in March? |

Hi Imonabuss, I heared that a bunch will come and I try to push some more. With our own activities it is impossible for us to come in 2006. Lets wait when the start of the german team is confirmed. Jens |

Buell should consider a Daytona promotion. Ticket giveaways, Sweepstakes drawings, Free swag at a dealer with a Daytona ticket stub, parties,.....lots of possibilites. |

Buell and BRAG should have a bunch of event and activities set up for Daytona. So far though the silence from both groups is deafening. I can't believe the marketing people aren't capitalizing on the commotion surrounding the RR. |

Diablo, until last monday I don't believe anyone at BRAG even knew it was happening. This bike was very deliberately keep under very tight wraps. I believe it operated under the "if they don't know it's coming they can't stop it" and if BRAG was running around getting events and shirts and the like set up someone would have noticed. Also I think there was a fair bit of concern that it would no go over all that well. I can say for a fact that the folks at Buell Drive are excited, relieved and just plain gratified by the response. I think we will see some "official" promotion happening before Daytona BUT for now it is up to us. All the professional promotion cannot beat the grassroots "this is the coolest thing you can imagine" kind of thing. Call, write, visit, ALL the HD dealers you can get too. Don't be discouraged by the "What are you talking about" reaction you get from 3/4 of them we only need 1/4 of them to get behind this to really make an impression. Attendance at the 200 is very small, I don't know the number, but I am betting that 3000 extra ticket sales would be noticed. |

Do they really have cole slaw wrestling? They do indeed, it is usually at a rather hardcore campground called, naturally, the Cabbage Patch. |

Hey Dave, Sorry if I came off a little abrupt on my previous post. I'm feeling a little disenfranchised right now with regards to BRAG. The lack of anything at Daytona is not new news in the BRAG camp. I can understand BMC keeping a tight lid on the XBRR project. I'm glad they did. I'm just wondering why there is nothing on the calender. Not for Daytona, not for homecoming, nothing. I don't have a local chapter (yet) So I, and others in a similar situation, feel frustrated and are beginning to wonder if re-upping with BRAG is worth it. I'm not the first one on badweb to voice this concern. Sorry, but a Fuell subscription is not worth $40 a year. I have no interest in the HOG activities or "the Enthusiast" so what does that leave? I have AAA so rider assistance isn't substantial. The ONLY things on the event calender are the demo rides and the International motorcycle shows. sorry, Rant off |

diablo. there is stuff on the calendar, I just got Fuell yesterday and they will be at Daytona at the ocean center. They are doing a homecoming, less than last year but FREE and they have a program for supporting local events this year. BRAG is still feeling there way. There is no good model to work fom, the HOG thing doesn't really work for them. For me the ride assitance is good. Pays for the membershhip. Tell BRAG what you want themn to do and what you would particiapte in. They are listening. |

The problem, at least a component of it, is referred to as "negative transfer of knowledge", the phenomenon where knowing something well inhibits the learning of something different. My USMC PMI (Primary Marksmanship Instructors) hated training folks to shoot.....who had already shot. The finest Marksmen (should that now be Markspersons?) where folks who had never picked up a weapon and were a "clean slate". Ditto B.R.A.G. They've tried to base things from accessories, clothing and events off the H.O.G. model. It just doesn't work. I am a Life Member in H.O.G. and I love it...it's GREAT. Look back....the shining moments in Buell were the time that folks, who knew little but were fueled by passion, were doing the goodies. Before you get too down though...know this. The folks driving the Buell effort are the most open minded and receptive ever. There is a growing ability to hear "that's not want we want" as "sound input" not an insult. I see about 4 things happening the next year that will make Buell ownership as "high tech" as Buell Motorcycles. Times are good. In the meantime, here's what I need you to do. Work hard to be part of the solution by participating in your local dealers Buell effort....even when you don't agree with everything. Make it a point to attend Homecoming. This year is going to be a great "factory/owners" mix in that the factory is involved in planning some parts, a group of Badwebbers planning other parts. I, personally, see this year as a MUST DO. The last piece I need for you to do is to SOUND OFF. State precisely and with as much detail as you can your opinions. Buell is building a reputation for LISTENING. This only works when we provide input. By the way. . . you were the FIRST to tag me, early this morning, for the SPECIAL PRIZE for making contact with 7 Harley-Davidson dealers. Your surprise will be on the way this week. I need your size. If you get a minute, write a simple set of instruction to let folks know how you got the e-mail for the 7 dealers and how you got it out so quickly. We...BUELL OWNERS....are on a roll! |

IMHO. ... BRAG had a chance when Leslie was in charge and her well deserved promotion left a large Void. ... She was a Buell rider and understood one of the main differences between HOG and BRAG was that; "HOG members ride to the party... to BRAG members the ride is the party." The way the BRAG MOTO GP tickets were handled last year. A very late decision by the Motor Company to offer a BRAG/HOG package mandated that most Buell riders had to buy tickets from other sources }to ensure a spot. This year again a last minute decision NOT to offer a BRAG package has left most hunting for some other way. It seems like the BRAG Directors job is shopped around the Motor Company looking for a bright young person on the fast track. ...Don't get me wrong anyone who can see what's happening and turn BRAG around should be someone worthy of promotion. ... Just My $.02 Worth. ... Terry |

Like most here I'm pretty opinionated and have no problem speaking up if I have a question, or an answer. So no worries there! I am still waiting for the current issue of Fuell. I was basing the current event on what is posted under the BRAG/events calender on buell.com. It's just hard to make plans without advance knowledge. I'm on a fixed income and I really have to plan ahead to get to these events. I really do understand how good we have it. I am a member of a race team. We have direct and personal contact with a factory rep (Shoutout to Henry!) that knows us and remembers our names. That's unheard of at a privateer level. You have to be an AMA factory team to get that kind of attention from japan inc. I intend to be at homecoming, assuming racing doesn't eat the finances. the way to make a difference is to GET INVOLVED. I have learned this lesson well. I wear an XL shirt Court! Thank you for your generous offer! Sending those emails is the easiest thing in the world. 1)compose your email. Identify yourself and why you are writing. Add pics. 2)Go to HarleyDavidson.com 3)use their dealer look-up for your zip code. This should turn up your closest dealers. 4)visit the dealer websites and collect their contact emails. (cut and paste each one to the recipients line of the same email. don't forget to seperate them with commas.) 5 hit send. whole process takes less than 10 minutes. Honest! |

4)visit the dealer websites and collect their contact emails. It takes a little digging on some dealer's websites to find it. Lowcountry HD/Buell's was really buried, but I found it! |

The only person who makes sense as the head of BRAG is Erik Buell. Think about it. As Terry says, BRAG is not HOG. Never will be. The Laguna Seca MotoGP race BRAG event was a fiasco last year. |

The only person who makes sense as the head of BRAG...is someone that doesn't work for Buell already, someone from the outside, that hasn't been exposed to H.O.G. or even know what it is. We need someone with a fresh outlook on the whole deal. |

The only person who makes sense as the head of BRAG is Erik Buell. Jim, I am planning on deleting your post before Erik's wife sees it. This is done for your safety. If she thinks you are trying to get him to work even more she will likely have you tortured. |

This is a repeat of my quote from above but I think it's what we need someone up there to understand. ... At HOG they ride to the party. ... At BRAG the Ride Is The Party |

"a fiscso" I thought the BRAG support at the MotoGP race last year was just fine. I got a fre program, a nice place to sit in the shade, food, beverages, an up-close view of the track/races. I did offer some constructive criticism of it though, meaning I offered some input intended to help make similar future BRAG events even better. Fiasco? I'm not seeing it. |
