has a interview with Aaron Gobert who is riding for Erion Honda in FX and it mentions the XBRR.

Here is the link
www.roadracerx.com

Make sure to get the new Road Racing World Mag when it comes out because it has a write up on the new XBRR in there.

Thanks for that link. I like Aaron Gobert. Interesting comment of his from the inerview...

"I’m sick of racing Supersport bikes, and it’s good to finally get on a bike that does what you want it to do."

Do you know about his Daytona accident that nearly killed him? He had to be flown to the hospital. So yeah, his heart's probably not in it as much now... but whatever.

He's a racer... He should get his heart back in it or get out of it.

To be totally honest alot of AMA racers detest Daytona. Mladin raises a stink and basically refuses to test there every year (all though he usually does cave in and participate in some fashion). Some are obviously more vocal about it than others.

Most of the F1 guys don't like Monaco either, and some complain. F1 wouldn't be the same w/o it though.

Daytona is a very nasty race track for bikes. One of the most dangerous tracks that top notch guys really have no choice in racing. The Isle of Man is more dangerous but since it is not part of any series riders can stay away if they don't like it.

50 years ago racers and the public accepted much higher levels of danger in racing. Racing bikes on the high banks is a holdover from a much more dangerous era. Personally I think the changes to the track two years ago are just a beginning. We need to get the races off the banking completely.

Aaron Gobert will be one of the 10 guys to watch this year in Formula Xtreme.

He has already turned 140:00s at Daytona.

The other 9 to watch?

1. Miguel Duhamel
2. Jake Zemke
3. Jason DiSalvo
4. Aaron Yates
5. Neil Hodgson
6. Ben Spies
7. Eric Bostrom
8. Ben Bostrom
9. Jamie Hacking

You’ve mentioned a couple of times that the XBRR is based on the XB. Some have questioned the bike’s eligibility for FX, since the press release said it was designed “exclusively for closed course competition,” and the rules say the class is supposed to be based on street-legal machinery.

We just called it a name because we did, but it is a modified bike, and it meets the rules. It seems silly to call it the bike that it’s based off when it’s changed.

Does the AMA still have to make a ruling on that?

No, that was done a long time ago, so it’s definitely approved. We have a letter from them saying it’s approved.

HA! I'd say that's a "done deal"! Woo Hoo!

That was a great article. Erik does a good job of addressing all the BS about displacement advantage and the legality of the bike in FX.

That's not true M1. Most love it. Most say it's one of their favourite tracks.

No one likes the logistics of Monaco. The motorhomes, hospitality, trucks and most everything else big can't get to the pits. That means a constant trek up and down as everything is wheeled along the harbour side on barrows, including the drivers.

There were two Ducati 749s in last years Daytona 200. Neither finished.

This year Neil Hodgson and Ben Bostrom are entered, and Bostrom turned a 137:849 on a 999 in December. 138:07 for Hodgson.

Both are riding for the Parts Unlimited Ducati Austin team.

Some say there is a Ducati curse on the Daytona 200. Ducati has never won there.

Ben and Neil may be on the list, but I wouldn't expect to see them on the grid. Could be wrong though.

I wonder if this is true about Yamaha's FX bikes?
http://www.motorcycledaily.com/01february06_redline.htm

The new R6 doesn't really rev to 17,500rpm. It looks like Yamaha was doing some 'creative' marketing.

Ducati is not entered in the 200. They should, though. Chandler looked pretty competitive when he was racing a 749. Factory bikes should have a pretty good chance, I'd think.

Well again www.roadracerx.com has another great follow up to the first article that goes a bit deeper into the ruling of the XBRR by the AMA. Looks like they are having to look at the ruling of the XBRR again.. fingers crossed.
