I was going to ask "what the heck is a bathtub/HEMI combustion chamber?".

I also didn't see any duct work to cool the rear cylinder, but maybe I missed it.

Anyone notice the 20 & 25 degree valve angles? Is that normal? Weren't they 22.5 & 22.5?

I'm gonna TRY and stop in at Hals-PA this week, and see if they have one on hand. I'll snap some pics, if they allow it.

Yeah, noted the cam/timing cover change. twin throttle bodies, and 62mm while they are at it! WOW. The bar has been raised.

I agree, how many of the components will become available? I could see an assemble your own kit, using an existing frame......

If that pipe is quieter than the beson/becin (whatever) I can see it being very popular in racing circles.

Way cool. By selling a package like this Buell will get a ton of riders on the grid using Buells. This seems like a decent deal for a privateer. You get a pretty competitive bike and a price know unlike buying a 600 and dumping endless money on it. You may not be able to beat DuHamel on his $60000 Honda every week but one of 10 Buells on the grid will have a shot.

Now I am waiting to hear about the engine exchange program, you send your engine back to the factory after so many hours and they rebuild it for you.

Knowing what I do about Erik's passon for aerodynamics I suspect this thing will pull a very tall gear at Daytona Road America.

Look at that nose, there is some seriously trick air managment going on there. I would love to know what the cdA is. We will find out when we see top speed numbers for Daytona.

Very cool. Erik has been having the time of his life!

I agree about the trick aero. Look at that wind tunnel picture. The flow over the rider stays laminar a long way. That minimizes the adverse pressure gradient behind him. That's worth a couple of ponies and less drafting advantage for the opponent.

Intake valve diameter is OVER 2"!!! The modified valve angles are probably practical requirements of making a valve that big fit in the XB-heads.

That is one fabulous looking bike!!!! Plus, a MAGNESIUM ZTL wheel! I expect alot of begging will be taking place to get some of those parts from street riders! (where would you start? heads? the exhaust? the fairing? the 8-pot caliper? the dual-inlet ram air system? the mind spins.....)

The muffler looks to be designed to be quiet. (it looks friggin huge) Wonder if that's the "real" muffler they'll run at Daytona?

When WILL the street version come out?

Hat's off to Buell!! Congrats on the bike, and best of luck at Daytona, and the rest of the FX season!!!

OK who was at the dealer meeting? Was there any specific mention of teams or riders? How does McWilliams factor into this? Was he at Daytona just as a one off shakedown test?

I just HAVE to mention it...

Who's been saying XB1350RR for two years?

Thank you Erik and the rest of the dev team : ).

So uhh... How much for the suspension, a rear wheel, that caliper (not that I need one), and an engine (I'll make it pass emissions, I swear...).

Anyway : ), Thanks again. You can bet I'll be jumping up and down in front of a TV (or maybe beside a racetrack...) yelling Go Buell : ).

Road Racing World said 150 rwhp. Buell said 150 crankshaft HP. I'd go with Buell's number.

One question with what it says about the gearing and top speeds.

Transmission Gear Teeth (Ratios)
5th 42/25 (1.000:1)
4th 37/26 (1.179:1)
3rd 34/29 (1.394:1)
2nd 30/33 (1.749:1)
1st 30/32 (2.197:1)
Transmission Overall Ratios
5th 4.106:1
4th 4.841:1
3rd 5.724:1
2nd 7.182:1
1st 9.021:1
Theoretical Speed In Gears At Redline
5th 154 mph
4th 131 mph
3rd 111 mph
2nd 89 mph
1st 71 mph

Is 154 mph going to be fast enough for Formula FX? I always thought they went faster that that. I also wish they would have put a 6 speed in there.... Although, 70 mph in 1st has got to be a rush on that sucker when it's putting out those power numbers.

To top it off. I do believe we will be seeing some interesting things coming for the engine in the not to distant future. I have a feeling Buell may start using this bike as a test bed for engines.

From the RoadRacingWorld.com article

"...to have its engine be durable enough to race an entire season with only routine maintenance..."

That sounds good. Real good.

That is the "theoretical" top speed with the final drive chain and sprockets provided on the bike. I'm sure the final drive ratio will be played around with by the race teams to achieve a top speed that is limited by aerodynamic drag and 150 HP. At least on tracks that warrant it.
