Ben...Contact Reg directly and he can bring you up to speed concerning how to set up a BattleTrax of your own. Is neither hard nor expensive. You just need some volunteers and perhaps an entry fee.

Holding a BattleTrax, while worth it, is expensive.
By the time you pay to hire Reg or rent the equipment and hire another BattleMaster(I think there are about 15 in the US),pay to promote the event, pay insurance, rent a facility(parking lot) big enough to do it in. You are going to spend several thousand dollars.
I think the first one we did when I was in Waterloo with Reg cost the dealership, when it was all said and done, about 8000.00
I don't know about you Outie but that's a chunk of change to me!
After that one, when we got certified to run our own the price went down to about 4-5000 per event.

Dave...No disrespect intended, but let Reg answer Ben's questions.

I know you put on a great event, but it can be done for a lot less and from my conversations with Reg last year he is on top of it.

Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks for the input on Battletrax guys. Club member Michelle is dealing with Reg, he still has the date reserved, and is still willing to make a long trip up here from a event in Long Beach the day before, really going out of his way.

Re costs, I think Reg's prices are in line, It does take a lot of work. Just a bummer our dealer backed out (radio ads are produced, ect). And theres no way for the club to absorb the cost, the show is a non-profiting event as it is.

Re. doing it ourselves, weve considered that in the past, but Reg offered the best solution to us, as we are already struggle to get enough volunteers for the show portion of the event.

So, we are still looking for a N. CA dealer willing to sponsor Reg's costs.

Ben

I don't remember the costs being that high for our event, but I think our event coordinator took it in the shorts anyway because in my opinion he didn't advertise enough. Tried to recoup the $$ in entry fees and only had a few riders... Loved the course and Reg. He's a great and wonderful guy. If I were independently wealthy, I'd pay his salary to travel and put them on! I love them that much. But alas, I'm a po' boy.

A lady places a personal ad in the paper that reads, “Looking for a man who won’t beat me, won’t run out on me, and is good in bed.” Days later her doorbell rings, and she opens the door to find a man with no arms or legs. “I’m here in response to your personal ad,” he says. “I don’t have arms, so I can’t beat you. And I don’t have legs, so I can’t run out on you.” “But I need a good lover too,” she replies. “I rang the doorbell, didn’t I?”

Freedom of Speech or to tell jokes...
not necessarily free in New York.

Two Arrested For Telling Lawyer Jokes

"How do you tell when a lawyer is lying?" Harvey Kash reportedly asked Carl Lanzisera that lead-in to an old joke as the two were standing in line in Hempstead, N.Y., to get into a Long Island courthouse. "His lips are moving," they exclaimed in unison. And for that they have been arrested.

The Associated Press reports that the two were exchanging lawyer jokes--to the amusement of some of those around them--when one person was not amused. He, needless to say, was a lawyer. He asked them to cut it out. They didn't. So he reported them to court personnel, who charged them with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, notes AP. "They just can't take it," Kash told AP of lawyers in general. "This violates our First Amendment rights." A spokesman for the Nassau County courts said Kash and Lanzisera were being abusive and causing a disturbance.

Kash and Lanzisera are part of Americans for Legal Reform, a group that monitors the courts and uses confrontational tactics to push for greater access for the public. One of their favorite ways of doing this is to stand outside courthouses on Long Island and mock lawyers. In this particular case, Kash was standing in line because he had a court date resulting from a drunken driving charge. Now he and Lanzisera are due back in court on the disorderly conduct charge next month.

Buelloski and IAMike... I moved your political posts. Neither one was mean spirited or any kind of a big deal, but neither will accomplish anything besides starting arguments and wasting time either.

Hola,
It's been awhile. I have a question regarding fuel coming out of my overflow line as soon as I turn on the gas. With a new baby and a bunch of other stuff my Buell is turning into a garrage queen for the time being. I take it on a short ride once a month to keep everything in check and yesterday (along with a weak battery) is when I saw the fuel problem. It seems to have corrected itself because it's not coming out now but I'll check again as soon as I jump start it and give it a ride. What should cause this and what should I do if it comes back?

FYI - It's a 2001 M2 with a 42mm Mukini Flatside carb. Also, I looked at where I'd think there should be a drain screw (dead center bottem of float bowl) and saw what looks like a metal "nipple" thingy - not a screw head. Is this right or did I loose a screw, which is causing the whole problem?
Thanks.

Thanks for the info!

PS: I just emailed DaveS for a quote. I want this bike! Heck, as stated before, I will even take the prototype.

Fogcity...it's usually a stuck float needle. If it persists you'll need to pull the float and see what may be gunked up in there or if the needle tip is worn.

I had this happen to my truck a few weeks ago. Some debris got by the filter and gunked things up.

Question on Battletrax.
Is there a new/different website that has a current schedule of events. I'm tired of looking at 2003 schedule of events on www.battletrax.com.

Anything scheduled for Milwaukee or the surrounding area?

I did Battletrax one year (2003) and then it seemed like it fell off the face of the earth. Any info would be appreciated.

Shane,

Ask over on SacBORG since Reg spends more time there than here. Last I heard is that he had computer problems or web site problems and was working on getting stuff updated.

There was a B'Trax "confirmed" for West Bend in early June that coincided with the Buell Homecoming, but due to a couple of issues I heard locally that may or may not change. Watch the Buell.com web site (if you're Flash enabled and current) to watch for schedule updates.

Since you're on the line, do you still have your hill climber available? I told a couple of locals about it a few weeks ago and they're probably more able than I am currently to make a deal with you on it. But I'd still like to see it sometime.

In any case it's good to see you posting here.
And just slow down a couple of seconds this year, okay? ; )

Hey Mike,
The hillclimber is history, sold it late last year to a father son team from Iowa.

Well see about slowing down. I'm hoping to do a track day or two with a guy from work. He has been twisting my arm to try one.

Well gotta go, my lunch has past and it's time to work now.
