Tsienville Sorry I'm late.
Welcome to the board!
Let us know when ever you're out and about, be great to meet you.
This Thursday is probably out as this cold rain tends to make everyone's hydrovaginitus act up.
We have a BRAG group out of Stone Mountain Harley Davidson & Buell. Check this out to see what's goin' on around Atlanta as far as Buelligan outings and the like. We just did Dyno-Drags at the dealership, loads of fun. Seems like we're always into something, you're welcome to come along no matter what you're riding.
Thanks for the compliment Tripper!

If you're thinking about changing carbs'

CHANGE THE INTAKE SEALS!

Also...if you're really adventurous, get out your Dremel tool and remove the casting lines from the inside of the intake manifold...

just re-jetting a CV or installing a Mikuni won't cure the cough unless you can guarantee without a doubt that the intake seals are perfect and not leaking...those seals are subjected to intense heat cycles and will crack and shrink more than you can imagine. Do yourself an easy favor and just change the intake seals. Better to spend $3 and a few hours labor to insure a good running condition than to spend maybe $1K and have your bike down...

Think of it this way...you'll gain knowledge about your bike's intake system, how it's assembled, how it looks and how to insure that it's leak free at 5 different points on the motor. It's easy mechanical work, no extra-special tools required, it can be done easily in a garage or even on the road side(don't ask, Thanks V2win!)and you'll gain confidence and familiarity with your bike.

from www.nhra.com:

The 40th annual Automobile Club of Southern California
NHRA Finals at Pomona Raceway, Pomona California:
Track records threatened as Pros lay down opening qualifying blasts.

...Las Vegas winner Chip Ellis continues to look sharp on his G-Squared S&S Buell V-Twin, posting a 7.063 at 187.36 mph to take the early lead in Pro Stock Bike. This is just the fourth start in an NHRA event for Ellis, who was the No. 1 qualifier in his debut at Indy earlier this year.

Chip Ellis

"The only word that can describe my run is awesome," Ellis said. "George Bryce and Ken Johnson [co-crew chiefs] had the bike tuned just right for the conditions here at Pomona. The bike ran straight, I made the shifts on time, and the result was an awesome opening pass."

from www.nhra.com:

Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals
Day 2, Friday 11/12/2004: Anderson closes on another record;
Kalitta, Worsham, Ellis still on top

...The other Day 1 leaders — Top Fuel's Doug Kalitta, Funny Car's Del Worsham, and Pro Stock Bike's Chip Ellis — were mostly unchallenged Friday as Thursday's clouds and cooler temperatures gave way to moderate heat and lots of sunshine. Everyone will get two more chances Saturday with sessions schedule for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Left Lane: Geno Scali
Runs 7.100/187.96, Now #2
Best prior run: 7.091/188.65, Was #2

Right Lane: Chip Ellis
Runs 7.101/185.97, Now #1
Best prior run: 7.063/187.36, Was #1

Seven-tens a pair! Great side by side pass for the two bikes with the best times of the session, but no improvement for either. That will wrap up the session with Fred Camarena on the bump with a 7.219 ET.

Looks like the Buell will win the battle, but the Vance & Hines Screaming Eagle Team will win the war (the 2004 Pro Stock Championship for Andrew Hines). Congratulations.

Next year there will be at least four V-Twins in the NHRA Pro Stock BIke class, the V&H Screaming Eagle Vrods and the Muzzy and G2 S&S powered Buells.

the fat lady may be warmin' up, but she ain't singin' just quite yet...

from www.nhra.com:
Friday's heat kept G-Squared S&S Buell V-Twin rider Ellis on top with his previously posted 7.063 at 187.36 mph. The big mover of the day was pending POWERade champion Andrew Hines who posted a 7.202 at 165.23 mph on his Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson V-Rod to earn the 11th slot in the field. Hines, 21, simply needs to qualify for this event to become the youngest POWERade champ ever.

"Everyone keeps coming up to me congratulating me, but we haven't done anything yet," Hines said. "It's great to be qualified for now, but the pressure isn't gone. I'm concerned about race day and we need to step up and get ready for Sunday. I want to earn one more win before the season is over and that's where the pressure comes from."

according to the NHRA Hines is champ unless he gets bumped, and he's currently sitting #11 in qualifying. but very much agreed José, congrats to he and Ellis and their teams - great to see (and hear) these boys roaring down the quarter mile. : )

Something to keep in mind, not only is this race for the end of this season(2004) but is the 3rd(?) race of the 2005 RingersGloves Championship. With Chip tied for Second in points with Angelle both 20 points behind Antron.

Elvira is back!
I had the misfortune of riding on with a failing oil pump back in July, and the rod bearings failed as a result. This meant a motor rebuild.

Elvira, by the way, is my 96 S1

I had to really look hard to find a shop that would take on the job. After searching, I decided that Bartels in Marina Del Rey seemed to be trustworthy and able to do a good job.

After waiting for 2 months on rods and bearing kit form Buell, it is now all behind us. I rode her home today and how sweet she is!

Congrats Doerman! Great to know another S1 is on the road again.

Was the failure the oil pump? Or the oil pump drive gear?

Cool! Sorry to hear about the drive gear. Mine was pretty well baked when I pulled it as well, at around 15k miles. Otherwise, my Cyclone would probably have had the same fate. Major pain to replace, but better then an engine rebuild.

I got annoyed with Eastgate a while back, but have since started cutting them some slack, especially since they sponsored a battletrax.

Chip Ellis and his Buell Firebolt did us all proud in Pomona today, and missed making it to the championship round by an eyelash:

from www.nhra.com:
Round 3 Finals, Sunday 11/14/2004
(W) Angelle Savoie (US Army Suzuki) RT: 0.051 ET: 7.081 Speed: 187.96
(L) Chip Ellis (G2/Star/S&S Buell) RT: 0.007 ET: 7.129 Speed: 187.18

...Ellis nails the tree and leads to well past the 1000 foot lights, where Savoie finally gets past. Angelle Savoie's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.026), 330 ft(-0.010), 660ft(-0.008), 1,000ft(-0.006). MOV: 0.0041 seconds (approximately 14 inches).

and to top it all off, Chip's a heck of a nice guy.

thanks Alex, we had a lot of fun. Chip and his Firebolt went into yesterday's finals on the pole - after setting a track record and running the 4th fastest speed in Pro Stock bike history during Saturday qualifying with a 7.024 at 188.38 mph - and, even though he doesn't like to talk about it (we asked him!) he's quietly gunning for becoming the first Pro Stock bike to ever run in the 6's (along with bragging rights there's a $10,000 "reward" for doing so). to put the bike's times and speeds into perspective, they are nearly equal to the performance of the Pro Stock cars. you can sure hear the v-twins thunder down the track. with George Bryce and George Smith from S&S putting this program together, expect to see continued success from Ellis and the gang, especially since next year will be their first full season as a team.

This is about 6 months old, but as we have pretty good coverage here, and tend to be out and about, if anyone sees a fuel tanker in an odd location, make a note of it and drop the FBI an email:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/11/12/fuel.tanker/index.html

They initially thought it was stolen for parts (and could have been), but no pieces have shown up. It dissapeared from NJ.

Anyway, keep your eyes open. It would be cool if Buellers could stop some bad guys.

No, no, no, no. . . . Court never called Denise "old"...Court is much smarter than that!

Court observiated, whence asked about some of the turmoil on internet sites, that Denise and I were doing this BikeBoardoPhelia neigh on 10 years ago.

There is much I've learned, much to learn but I know better than to call Denise "old".

Heck, my ownfoolself, I list simply as "high mileage".
