Facetious Prayer...

Oh Lord, Please grant the government at all levels the power to take away all that is dear to me in order to protect me from myself. And grant all those that either can't or won't control their emotions and cause undue harm onto others eternal forgiveness (read: immunity from prosecution) both on earth and in heaven.

D=ave:

I guess riders in LA cannot use full face helmets legally anymore. In GA we have a seatbelt law. No exception was made for any car, so if you have a pre '60s vehicle you are committing a crime every time you drive it. Now if you drive a pick-up, those are exempt from the law.

In the case of trikes, if they have a roof, no helmet needed.

Some people have been known to refer to the face shield as a visor. They need a better definition.

I'm sad to say that I am officially Buellless. Passion was delivered to Dave in IL on Sunday. From watching him ride, while showing us the way to I-64, he really likes the way Passion runs. I'm sure glad I have that 5.4l engine in my F-150!

p.s. it's time to go through my Buell spare parts and memoribilia. I see a sale in the future.

What is the deal with the google mail? A new competitor to the free Yahoo/Hotmail accounts? I haven't kept up with the recent GoogleGossip.

Better'n hotmail or yahoo...

A Google approach to email.
Gmail is an experiment in a new kind of webmail, built on the idea that you should never have to delete mail and you should always be able to find the message you want. The key features are:

Search, don't sort.
Use Google search to find the exact message you want, no matter when it was sent or received.

Don't throw anything away.
1000 megabytes of free storage so you'll never need to delete another message.

Keep it all in context.
Each message is grouped with all its replies and displayed as a conversation.

No pop-up ads. No untargeted banners.
You see only relevant text ads and links to related web pages of interest.

I am new to the board...so shoot me if I am posting in the wrong spot! (I shoot back)!!! I purchased my XB9R last year, brand new. I love the bike...and like my profile states...I will never own another motorcycle other than Buell. The bike recently registered 1800 miles (I know...I know...over a year old and only 1800 miles...what do you want...I'm Active Duty Marine Corps). Anyways...just after 1800 miles the speedometer stopped working, and the high beam flasher stopped working. Luckily, It was all covered under warranty and didn't cost me a dime. It seems as if the Speed Sensor went bad, and the control housing shorted (Left side only). Getting to the point here...I was wondering if anyone else has run into an issue like this with their 2004 XB9R (or earlier model)? It was kind of dis-heartening to find out that my brand new toy was broken...and I had to wait 2 weeks to get it fixed.

Also...are there any Buell'ers in the Quantico, VA area? Looking for some folks to ride with....it seems that nobody out here owns a Buell...and if they do they ride it at night and I don't see them!!

Mike, it is like yahoo / hotmail, but fantastically executed.

There was the standard internet knee jerk firestorm over it when it was announced. It scans incoming messages, and displays links to advertisers along the right hand column (who paid to be included based on search terms).

Privacy advocated somehow choose this as their new whipping boy, when this is about the best behaved advertiser supported website I have seen.

Advertisers get exactly zero information about you if you don't click a link. The same is *not* true with hotmail or yahoo, or just about any other site you visit. They can (and do) collect information about you everytime you read your mail.

Reepicheep & Mike,

From my perspective, as a Web Designer/Developer (Side job...pays better than the Marine Corps..and what if I break my leg..or arm..or neck...well you get the picture)...GoogleMail is the best thing out there for free. They do "scan" your mail for ad reasons but they don't "read" your e-mail. Your messages are still secure, unless of course you're making a threat to national security via e-mail...all of those types of messages are tracked. When I develop sites for people, and they are in the need of a free e-mail I never point them at the big wigs of free e-mail (hotmail, yahoo). I have always been an advocate of "You get what you pay for"...until GoogleMail arrived. You pay nothing, and you get everything! AOL mail ($24 a month) doesn't even give you all the features of GoogleMail. They are stepping up to the plate...but it's still not all there. If you do have Yahoo or Hotmail, and your "SPAM" folder is always exploding with e-mail....take a look at what you subscribe to via your e-mail and you'll realize why it's happening.

And welcome Carl.
I have heard of the speedo problem before, not the flasher problem.
I do believe however that very well could be the only problem you have.
I've had mine for a little over a year now, and have put 25,000 miles on it with only one problem, my stator went out. Mine (XB9S) is the only one I know of so far that has had the stator go. Although I have head it's the weak link in the HD derived engine.

And one more thing.
Thanks for your service! Thank you very much!

Where did you get the Diane Arbus photograph that is on your profile page? She is one of my all time favorite photographers.

First, thanks for your service to our country.

If you want to ride with some Buellers you might want to head northeast a bit and come meet some DCBRAG members at this Satuday, Spept 4th at our monthly meeting at Ft. Washington, MD Harley Davidson/Buell at 10 am. After the meeting we'll ride back into Virginia over to Manassas for their car/bike/stunt show, check it out at www.motorfest.net.

Check us out at www.dcbrag.org

Hope to see you there!

Hey...Thanks to all for the comments. You don't get to hear "Thanks for your service" too much anymore. It seems as though many in the American public just don't care about our military. I for one, server with pride and give extreme respect to those Marines that serve under me for their patriotism and dedication to this country. It takes a strong individual to join the Marine Corps or any branch of service for that matter, during a time of war. I joined when the country was in peace time, and had nothing but the incentive of service and a paycheck. These kids now a days have things like war, seperation from family and friends, and even death to look forward to. So....As you say you appreciate my service...I say I appreciate their service. I also have a deep respect for the civilian population who support our troops, and those parents who willingly (or sometimes unwillingly) send their children off to war.

Jose` thanks for the offer. Unfortunately it is my birthday on the 6th and my wife and I are going out of town. I have my BRAG membership card but I just haven't found a group around here yet. I will definately check out your groups website and hopefully get out there to join you all in a ride or two...or three...maybe even four!! HeH!!!

Semper Fidelis,
Carl
