I've gotten the go-ahead from the American Cancer Society to use their logo on my gear for my trip this summer (http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/4062/45543.html?1078407160), as well as advertising and they're going to be doing some press release stuff as well. I am looking for a place to get a large patch or two made with the ACS logo. I know Glitch had the 3%ers made up, and Court has experience with the Elves stuff. Who do you go through, that might be able to do just a couple at a reasonable cost?

I'm also looking for a high quality version of the Team Elves logo to do a decal for the back of my helmet. All that I've found have been the small ones on this site and on www.teamelves.com. Any help there would be appreciated as well.

Quite a few of you expressed interest in the trip I have planned, meeting up and riding for a bit and what have you . I've spoken with Ferris, his Thunderdome is going to be the stepoff point, and I will have the rest of the detailed route and schedule posted soon. I appreciate all of the kind words and advice that has been given to me since I started planning this trip.

The badweb community is truly amazing, I am in awe of the ourpouring of support for people like my friend, Bubba's buddy Ted, and all of the other people that have been touched by those who read these pages.
Thank you!
Alex

Team Elves (Downunder racing)
Arrived back at work from salt 1/2 hour ago, Ross left us at 5.30am this mornining with a 2,800 km drive to his home he will be back on deck sunday 14/3/04, Charles droped me bike and gear off and has another 900 km till he is home.

125.243 mph against a previous record of 114 and change. So we upped it by 11 mph.

Ross and myself both ran a 125 licence runs and two full noise runs and all times where within 1 mph of each other. Fastest run bike achived was by Ross on his licence run when the track closed for record runs due to a tail wind of 15 mph or greater 126 + change.
The XB12R ran flawlesly, exept for the rev limiter in 5 gear which I had never run up on befor.
Appears that a soft limit starts at 6,200 rpm through to 7,000 rpm then chops you back to 6,200.
This bike is totaly stock (no race kit) can sombody who knows confirm that what we encontered is what should happen. Both Ross and me spent some time with owners manual and workshop manual but did not find any mention of rev limiter operation and could not disable it.
Will post some pictures and a full story for those interested in a day or two when I catch up on some work backup.

Yes it is. That is exactly how the softlimiter works and when you hit the hard it cuts it back HARD. The revlimiter is hardwired into the ECM. Even the RaceECM has the same rev limits when it comes ot the 12's

Paul, congrats on the new records, and by a very impressive amount. way to go.

Alex, it was great to finally talk to you the other day, and Denise and i are thrilled to be a part of your adventure. your buddy Matt is lucky to have you for a friend.

Rex and Al and Big J, et al: some sort of "mid"-Cali Buell gathering would indeed be great, a lot of work, but with some planning and luck possibly the stuff of legend and folklore.

not sure if Oktoberfast '04 makes sense for an event of this potential scale, as it seems pretty late in the year already to put together a "big" event, what with all the various logistics on behalf of the organizers and participants involved.

Denise and i would be glad to be a part of something like this -- it's something we both have experience with -- and if some of the "usual suspects", i.e. Al, Forger, Rex, FMJ, Big J, Woz, Sparky, EBear, Scott Page, Dino, etc., etc. were to climb on and lend their names and support, well, it could all make for some great reading and pix afterwards here on BADWEB.

and who knows, maybe Reg might even be interested...

(...and Court???

...and Erik???)

hmmmmmmmm.........

Kernville would be a GREAT launching point (anymore than about 20 folks or so here at the ThunderDome and we'd be overwhelmed, and i get particularly sqeamish at the thought of someone copping a good beer buzz at the Dome on Friday night and then having to ride off to a motel room), but KVille books early every year, so lodging quickly becomes an issue.

i can map out a weekend ride from Ferrisville with an overnite up in Sequoia/Kings Canyon Nat'l Park that would leave the troops with enough Kodak moments to last a lifetime, with an equally stunning ride back out to reality on Sunday.

bottom line, i'm a sucker when it comes to a gathering of motorcycle friends, but if it's gonna be a BIG deal, we're gonna need LOTS of help.

Bubba, if you're on here, please tell Ted we're thinkin' of him.

Thanks for all the comments.
FMJ yes ran into Gary hard not to as he was also the M/C scrutineer. When we left yesterday he had just done his first Nitrous run, ran out of N2 in 10 seconds and I dont think he got the timing of the gas right and basicaly ran through on normal pump gas. Hopefully he will have done better today but will not here untill he is back in a week.
As for the Ca trip was waiting to see if you found a Buell for me to rent for the week befor I do any more.

P.S.--if that damn Ferris would get to work we could steal his extra.
And I will have some sort of second bike you can ride.Looked at a Speed Trple yesterday, and gonna check out a Falco on monday. And I offered Roc some cash for his very nice S-1.--But he's not desperate yet.

Heard tales of an Orange Buell smoken down White Ln. here recent. That you Ferris? If it was, you made an impression on a few of my students.

hey all,
just got back from daytona and came upon a cool item at the cycleworld show at the speedway...
rizoma had a tent set up and was selling some of the out of production stuff way cheap.
picked up an air filter assembly.
nicely made piece, here is my problem:
on the bottom of the air filter there is what looks like a drain. the kit came with a length of hose that fits this drain.
i think it is there so that if any oil from the breathers gets in the sir filter assembly it can drain out of the filter. where am is supposed to run this hose?
everything else looks and hooks up just right exceptn this.
hope anybody out there can help me...

daytona was great!!!

thanx,
orngm2

Roc,selling a bike is a stepped process--kinda like grieving--first is sadness over having to sell, then anger when no one calls and it does not sell as quick as we want, then comes acceptance--that we are never gonna get what we want for it,--then the desperation sets in!!!

Re the California Buell idea:

The California Sportster folks have been doing this for years. They got their start at www.sportster.org and created California groups at www.yahoogroups.com. The various groups are BayAreaSportsters, SoCalSportsters, SandyEggoElite and SoCalBikeNuts.

Anyway, many of these folks are Buellers as well.

This year their gathering (aka CAMS IV, for CAlifornia Meeting of Sportsters [and Buells]) is being held April 30th through May 2nd at the Yosemite Bug Hostel. See http://www.yosemitebug.com/index.html. YoBug has camping, Tent Cabins, Private Cabins, Private Rooms, Co-Ed dorms and Single-Sex dorms. It also has a restaurant and bar on site and is located in Midpines, CA, not far from the Merced River and one of the major gateways to Yosemite.

In the past these gatherings have been held at Songdog Ranch (twice, a Sparky favorite) and Fernwood Motel & Campground (Big Sur). Attendance usually runs between 30 and 50 folks.

You guys already know some of the Buellers who will be attending. Timbo, Fred X1, Caf'e Bill and of course yours truly. Plus you'll probably get to see some tricked out Caf'e Sportsters as well.

Anyway, you all would be more than welcome to join the fray if you're interested. It's a fun and casual gathering. Some folks will sightsee in Yosemite (via bike of course) while others will search out enticing roads in the area (there are several).

It's going to be fun. No cost, no obligation. If you're interested, let me know. If you want to reserve a place to stay contact YoBug directly. They are very affordable.

PS. Ferris, if you're listening, some of us were thinking that a ride up the slab from SoCal to Midpines on Friday the 30th would be rather pedestrian.

Instead we're thinking of passing North through Ferrisville on the way. Would you be so kind as to suggest an appropriate route? It would be greatly appreciated. And of course, if you're available, it would be great to have you along.

Jim_sb - So Cal to Midpines. HeHeHe...how many hours do ya have for the ride? I don't think that Ferris and I would have too much trouble finding an entertaining route between his house near Kernville and my house near Mariposa. Why, I think we may have even ridden one or two of the roads in that area. What say, Ferris?

Hi guys,

I can't speak for everyone, but Larry (aka Kidcoocoo, awesome Sportster 1200 SCR) and I will definitely be up for a long day in the twisties.

Our plan (Larry is coming from Fullerton area, I'm from Santa Barbara) was to meet in the vicinity of Frazier Park (that way I can ride the 33 North from Ojai and Lockwood Valley Road :-)). From there figure out a fun route up to Ferrisville then head North through the cows and mountains.

The plan of course is to arrive at Midpines by nightfall. Midpines is a stout 6 hours from SB even if I go the most efficient way, this route will be much longer but, if we pull it off, will be worth every minute I'm sure. Plus I've always wanted to see Ferrisville.

Jim
