How do Beemer warranties compare to Buell/Harley warranties????? Just curious. | ||

Hey Rick, back in the days when I was doing Dad duty in conjunction with husbanding, I used to tote my daughter along nearly everywhere feasible. She loved it! 68XLCH with shorty duals, easy to hear coming and going! Thank the lord, no incidents. Sounds like the over-zealous officer needs to get a life and stay out of others when and where he's not needed. The attitude that "I know whats best for your children more than you" is almost as offensive as parental abuse and neglect. closer to topic---had the pleasure of riding around Missouri this past weekend and one of the riders was aboard a beemer 1100S with the single sided swing arm and under tail exhaust---beautiful machine, excellent acceleration, plenty on top and carved some neat and tidy corners. No chicken strips on those tires!! He was very happy with the beemer, complained not a whit. | ||

Mike, A friend of mine just purchased a pristine black 03 K1200RS, only 4,000 miles and extras for $12,000. He screwed up the clutch lever while he was slowly driving it in a tight space. A new lever (not installed) was $105.00! Couldn't believe it myself. -JW:>  | ||

Mike, I've been seriously looking (like everyday) into buying a 04 GSA (or I might wait for the redesigned 05) or the GT. Looks like I’ll have to do a little more homework because I think $105.00 just for a clutch lever is totally unacceptable. I recently put a Forcewinder, rejet, and Vance and Hines slip on onto my 1998 S3 and it is really a huge huge improvement. Not too loud, sounds very healthy, and geez what a difference in Performance. \I am super happy to say the least. No issues with Seattle Rain and my Air intake, and I ride every day. | ||

Jim, I would seriously look at the '03 GSA's right now. One question you need to ask is whether you're going to any off-road riding. The GS is a great on and off road bike but the CS model is really great for twisties. BMW has some great incentives right now (%.9 financing, no payments for 90 days, first three on BMW). There are some spy photos of the Dakar model circulating around on my home website The Chain Gang and they don't look that much different. The only mechanical difference is going to be a twin spark head allegedly to reduce the surging problems. Most guys that had a surge changed spark plugs and the problem went away. | ||

Chuck, The Force pipe LOOKED good from a distance...really didn't pay too much attention to the welds, though. He's still got it. Next time I'm over I'll check it out and get back to you. It was just too loud for me (and him, as well).  I like the race pipe but the price compared to what else is out there...I don't know. I've seen a couple of race kits on ebay but I've never won a bid yet. (Maybe because people don't want to let 'em go for $200.00???) | ||

Hey Karl, Thanks for the tips. I wouldn't buy a new bike regardless of incentives. You loose to much money once you drive the puppy off the lot. Besides, it's a buyers market nowadays. I just missed a super low mileage (2,500 miles), pristine, loaded (aluminum bags etc.) 04' GSA by a couple of hours and it sold for $13,500. Never did care for any of the "other" BMW models myself but that's just a personal preference. Since I have such short legs, I'll probably end up getting the GT but my heart is with a loaded GSA. Then again, if they cost a fortune to maintain I won't be getting either. Thanks, -JW:> | ||

Chuck-I'll try to get pix...I'm not sure if he's interested in selling tho- and don't you ride a 2000 M2? The pipe is for a '97 which had the old-style header. It wouldn't fit mine due to changes in the frame. | ||

Of all Beemers my favorite is the old R80G/S. If I could own one today it'd be a Boxer Cup Rep...but man those things are big! Kids do really love the bikes. Best to expose 'em while they're young...before they've adopted the common evil bike mentality from their peers and elders. It's strange that motorcycles seem to be so much more embraced as a viable form of transportation in the rest of the world... | ||

I used to run a V&H with the stock header and the tone was really bassy and mellow at low RPM. It only really screamed at redline. The low end torque was incredible, too. Right now I just need heads and cams to match my current exhaust  | ||

Jim W. Get a 2000-2002 1150 GS, you'll save a lot of money and you can find examples with owners that have not used them much.I Don't care for the EVO(power) brakes on the new ones. | ||

The exhaust brackets on my S3T just failed again (I had to have them welded last summer as the brackets are apparently unique, even though the exhaust muffler is completely stock), so I'm thinking of taking the opportunity to get a decent slip-on. As I'm going to be keeping the stock air intake and jetting, Rick_a's set up with the V&H can appeals a lot. Anyone got any thoughts on this? Rob | ||

I have had my vance and hines on for over 40,000 miles and since 97. So far, no problem....Does sound good, runs good, but you have to repack it every now and then. Tat from American sportbike has some packing that is said to last a while vrs. the fiberglass. My thoughts were that the vance and hines is lighter and must help with the brackets not having to carry as much weight. REX | ||

JimW and VR, I own two Beemers, an '02 and an '03, neither of which have the power/ABS brakes. The '02 Roadster I have has a VERY low seat.Try it out, Jim. The '03 GS Sport I have came without the ABS. I made a conscious decision not to buy the ABS. I think it is okay, but still needs a little work for everyday life. Maybe the next generation? | ||

Wow, great pic! Very first ride on any motorcycle was aboard a panhead dresser in the dirt hills!! For a punk kid, that was the greatest event in a life time! Hooked solid ever since. Another memorable event was being chased out of pasture by a huge bull. The little 250 Yamaha enduro was too noisy for him and too slow to my thinking as he headed across the field at a full gallop to head me off!! My big sis was married aboard an Indian in the front yard of the JOP...her husband's best friend and his GF were also married at the same ceremony and everyone in attendance was a ride-in!...some dirt road Colorado cow town where they didn't ask too many questions!! You could do that stuff 50 years ago in America. | ||

Being both Beemer-phile and Buell-curious I've got a couple of questions about Buells. 1. What are the advantages of having such a short wheelbase? When my F650 was sitting right next to the Firebolt I testdrove my CS looked like a 'Wing next to the Buell it was so much taller and longer. 2. Why does Buell use such aggressive fork angles when everyone else seems to be at 23 to 24 degrees? | ||
