"... but not even close to the sound of a tuber with race kit! "

And it doesn't take the full kit to get that sound either. ;)

Thank you, thank you, thank you very much.

Kahuna, Do you suggest not even purchasing the Pro Series kit and purchasing a XB Slip-on Muffler from D&D Exhaust?

thats an idea, or i heard that the latus (sp?) exhaust sounds pretty good too. i once heard a 9R with a force on it, and that thing was LOUD!

you might need the race ECM? but like i said, power difference id not that apparent.

The Harley Dealership I purchased my Buell from frowned against me buying an aftermarket exhaust from anyone else but Harley. It was mentioned that any other exhaust would crack from the header. Is there any truth to this???

Johny,
Some aftermarket exhausts have cracked, some haven't. Read through the knowledge vault here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/3598.html?1057147753 for many discussions on various Buell and aftermarket exhaust/muffler systems. Some of the "Harley" exhausts have had problems as well in the past. That dealer will also probably tell you to only buy your spark plugs and oil only from/through them as well.

Seeing where you're located I'm wondering which dealer it was. Ping/email me if you don't want to post it. I'll give you a few names at the local dealers to speak with.

There is also the BCBRAG meeting tonight at Hal's if you can make it. Be there before 7pm and ask for Rick. Or just walk up to anyone wearing anything with Buell printed on it between 6:30-7:00 to find where the meeting is being held. Usually in the customer lounge, but is sometimes held upstairs or in the PA shop.

Hope everyone had a great 4th; we wanted to update you about all the new and neat things going on here at American Sport Bike. There’s a lot of news so read on for the latest.

Blast owners:
We now carry a sport bike tire for your Blast in the appropriate 16” sizes. This tire has a modern and aggressive tread pattern for levels of dry and wet weather performance. These tires offer excellent handling, superior grip and traction in corners along with good mileage. Front tire- part # 6801, $59.95. Rear tire-part # 6802, $71.95

Firebolt, Lightning and Blast Stand. Still in the testing stages, but looks good so far.
# 5584 Retails for $119.95

The next two items are a fix and a cure for those troublesome rocker box and air cleaner mounting problems.
The fix: We now carry air cleaner breather bolts that rotate a full 360º. This breather mounting kit will enable you to mount any aftermarket air cleaner that breathes through the cylinder heads. Fittings can be rotated 360 so that hoses can be routed as necessary. Fits on 91-03 Buell and XL’s and 93-03 Big Twins. Part # 5623, Retail $45.95

The cure: If you have a problem with excessive oil in your air filter or breathers, then here’s the cure. The Cure is a kit that consists of two vent extensions, two collars and some drill bits with instructions on how to modify rocker boxes to prevent the previously mentioned problems. The Cure Plus comes with all the same stuff except the vent extensions have check valves in them. The Cure, part # 5938 Retail $29.95
The Cure Plus, part # 5939 Retail $69.95
This is a small price to pay when it comes to keeping oil from dripping all over your bike.

If you have a need for any tires (Blast, V-Rod or tube frame)
Tube Frame tires, call for special pricing. Brands available are Dunlop, Bridgestone, Metzler, Michelin, Pirelli, Avon, Continental, and Maxxis to mention a few.

For those of you interested in the ultimate in high performance. Ceramic wheel bearings are available. Tube Frame models $498.00 XB Series $600.00. Ceramic packages for engines available, call for pricing.

Any of you racing the XB series, rear sets and chain drive conversions are available.

In our ongoing in-house American Sport Bike projects, we currently have five XB projects being worked on.
1. Carbon Fiber “AiRam”, a pressurized air intake system for your Firebolt or Lightning. We hope to introduce this part before the end of the month.
2. Firebolt Carbon Fiber Headlight Bezels, Part # 9015, $T.B.A.
3. Lightning Carbon Fiber Windscreens, Part # 9022, $T.B.A.
4. Firebolt/Lightning Upper Right Side Heat Shield/Air Scoop, Part # 9007, $T.B.A.
5. Firebolt/Lightning Sprocket Cover.

As some of you XB series owners know, we currently have Penske Shocks available and we’ve just added Ohlins Shocks. $883.95

P.S. We’ve received some great feedback about the Firebolt Handle Bar Risers!!!

Some of the new parts we’ll be adding for the V-Rods within the next few months are:
Stainless Steel Throttle Cables, Brake Pads, Ohlins Shocks, Power Commander, Tires, Rear Drive Belt, Axle Space Bearing Covers…just to mention a few.

Blake-
Reading your account of the fireworks factory explosion reminded me of an explosion in DesMoines about 20 years ago.
I had just laid down on the couch for a Saturday afternoon siesta. I heard a boom unlike most normal ones. Growing up in Kansas City we used to have regular sonic booms from the military flights, but I knew they have been banned. Anyway I get up and see smoke coming from the direction of one of our coal-fired power plants about 7 miles away.
I get up and turn on my scanner to see what it might be.
After several hours they realize that it came from a dynamite storage bunker near a quarry. Then they find out that three boys and a dog had gone hunting in the area and were missing.
They never quite figured out what happened but they never found the boys or the dog. All the remains that we recovered were a 22 rifle and a dog collar up in a tree.
Moral of the story - don't mess around with explosives.

Dale,
I'll send it out to you this week - winter sucked so badly this year I forgot I even had the stock CV - found the box cleaning out some crap ("Hey, this one's full - wonder what's in that??";)
Of course it went from 13 weekends of rain to 90+ in 5 days, so now I get to b***ch about the heat instead of the rain. :)

I just talked to Terry Parsley, who set up the BRAG dinner at Laguna Seca. He said he still has 9-10 slots left. He'll take your money at the BRAG tent Saturday, or even the dinner that nite, if there are any left.

Im working at Harley Davidson Final Assembly plant in York PA for the summer, cannot bitch, makin good money. I am saving up for some Nallin goodies for my M-2L, hope to be pushing over 105 hp by next spring. Was down in Ocean City Maryland, and ran into OCBueller while down there. We swapped riding stories, he showed us pics of his bikes, (Us i mean AWPRIOR and myself) and was a pretty rad dude to talk to. I have meet many people on here, and many more i would like to. Have to make a road trip to Colorado sometime....
Well take it easy fellas, I will talk to you all when I am around a computer again, Peace.

I'm heading thru Gettysburg tomorrow for their bike week. I know most of you are gearing up for Laguna but if you're in the area stop by. I'm spending the whole day there. I'll be the Blue bolt with the black kick plates and the New York License Plate.
