friends, the following just came in via e-mail from my Mom. she's had a pretty full plate of late, dealing with the trauma of my sister Lisa's death, but she wanted you all to know what a heartfelt word or two can mean to someone who's life has just been shattered: Dearest Badweather Bikers, There are not adequate words to convey the terrible grief my family and I recently went through. Your outpouring of love and words of comfort made it all a little easier to bear. Ferris printed out your messages of condolence on purple bordered paper and made a booklet for each of us. His sister Lisa loved anything 'purple'. She also loved life and why she chose to end it will always be a mystery. Thanks to the generosity of one of you, Ferris and his two children were able to be here in Washington State with me and my other two sons and daughter and their families for a day of hugging and loving and mourning on my birthday. Your messages came from all around the world and all across the country. I am grateful for each and every one of them. I send a big THANK YOU to each of you with all my love. Don't get fooled by unscrupulous vendors. If you buy a Poer Commander thinking it is the answer to your XB9R lean mixture problems, you will waste your money. The fuel injection system used on the FireBolt is very unlike the Delphi system used on the Soft Tail. It uses a closed-loop system that only considers the O2 sensor without any other parameters. No matter what the power commander does, or even if a person pours gas down the throttle body, the ECM will sense the rich condition and adjust the base map to make it lean again. A Power commander would make the fuel-air ration higher only at rpm values over 3500rpm. You cannot get rid of the 3000rpm hiccup with a power commander. The Race ECM is the very best you can do right now, unless you are a dealer and can re-burn the PROM chip in the ECM. If you get a muffler with less back pressure, or gut the stock muffler, get the K&N filter (only from Harley, K&N does not sell them directly) and the Race ECM, that is the best you can do. The race Muffler and a gutted stock pipe have identical performance. the stock ECM, with a K&N and the gutted muffler, will give quicker acceleration and a few ponies on the top, also 4 to lbs of torque. The Race ECM is the same except for you don't get the snap in power at 5000rpm that you get with the stock ECM. Power Commander/Dynojet has discontinued the 808-311 (the new one for the Firebolt) power commander because of this problem. Don't believe a vendors promise of an X1 Power Commander working, it is the same exact thing without a special map for the Firebolt. | ||

This is my first post on this page. I have a question regarding my rear shock on a 97 S1. I had recall 0817 performed about two years ago, I have the long shock. I have been told that one has also been recalled , is this true? I've talked to a couple of local dealers and they haven't been much help. Thanks Dean | ||
