Thanks all for the initial feedback regarding maps. I never even thought about GPS, but it sure has sparked my interest. I look forward to more discussions.

Thanks again!

Dave,

I don't see what is not original by installing a K&N filter. Still got the bread box, but after 20K miles, I decided a new air filter was in order, and wanted one that was washable that would last longer. I am cheap. If I had not told you, would you have known? Have I noticed more performance? Heck no!

People have been on me since day one to dump the factory pipe. Even Sparky here in LA has the original pipe and bread box on his 98 S3. Does he have a K&N? Who knows? Should I have gone with the original filter to say I kept a tube bike original...seems a bit petty to me. I just don't like spending money on something that depreciates.

Dave,
I'm only stock because I have no miles yet. (WInter SUcks!) I'll run this year with just airbox/breather mods, maybee race ignition, and I'll wait till I hear some before I get exh. I do sorta want to get the 500 mile checkup done before boring the cases. I wish I could afford Aarons M2 heads, but oh well.

One of the joys of motorcycles is the art of making your machine your own. From classic gearhead performance desire, to WWII nose art, to extra cup holders, customizing your bike is the basic act of individuality. Bike as Art.

Collector sensibilities are cool too, I'll enjoy having that rarest of Buells (Stock ) for a few weeks anyways, but I must give primacy to those with even rarer Buells, Stock with hard miles under the wheels.

(uh oh, I just realized! I used non factory glue to reattach my fork stops! I abdicate. Bike no longer stock. Darn.)

Chauly, I have to say, I think my favorite studio recording is "COSMIK DEBRIS". Favorite live stuff is from his first concert, here in Portland (the real Portland, the original one) is "BLACK NAPKINS" and "THE TORTURE NEVER STOPS". Of course, the real early stuff still appeals. Ya just gotta love "SUZY CREAMCHEESE", "THE BRAIN POLICE", and "HELP, I'M A ROCK".

It's cool Scott if you take pride in keeping your bike in the condition as delivered from the factory. My only point being that Buellers (especially the crowd ate up enough to visit BadWeb) cannot leave the bikes alone. Darn near all can't help from modifying some characteristic of our tube frame Buells to enhance them in some way.

I don't believe the same is true of Blast and XB Buellers though. I would think that more are happy with the stock configuration of their bikes.

C'mon now Saro...:)
Prove me wrong? How many stock Blast riders are out there with a stock Blast? How many XB riders are out there with a stock XB?

Sure sure I know there are exceptions. My Dad's (Badweb member) Blast is sporting some custom paint, Vance&Hines and a K&N now. But again...I'll stick by my presumption. Here on BadWeb, percentage wise, Blast and XB riders have kept their bikes factory configuration.

Hello All!
Just thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Dave and I'm a Motoholic.
Been reading this forum since I rode my brother-inlaw's S3 and decided to replace my stolen Bandit 600 with a new XB9S. Looks like I'll have the XB in mid to late March.
This has got to be the most informative place anywhere for Buell info be it good, bad, or ugly, great forum. I've learned alot here, I've read alot here before I joined just to make sure I was an informed buyer.

Fellow Buellies:
I just received the Spring 2003 Competition Accessories catalog. They have Fram OEM filter replacements for the chrome HD63813-90(long) filter special of buy 3 - get one free @ 5.99 each. I bought 6, got 8. With shipping/handling it came out to $6 each. Not a bad deal if you like the long chrome ones.

Excellent, that should provide sufficient time to complete your indoctrination to allow you to "see the light".

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned it, so I'll break it to you. There are no fees to join Badwb, but all new members are required to boost 2 Bandits prior to being granted a password.

Welcome aboard....I've been doing the "Buell thing" for about 14 or so years and it continues to become more fun.

Court,
Look at the ebay link in the body work section of the knowledge vault. Do you know anything about the fairing with the text on it? I think the bracket and both fairings are S2's but I'm not sure. Figured you might know. :)

Mike:

Let me go back and look. The 3rd item is the fairing off Heidi Lauby's S-3 "Quicksilver" from the Pony Express Ride. I recognize that from my invovlement in that project.

I'll go look at the other two and see if I can sort them out.

Is anyone here aware of the testing procedures and / or criteria for machined wheels? The company I work for is designing and machining some wheels from spun aluminum blanks, and the people in charge of the project are stuck on this issue.

Thanks for any info...

Henrik - you are probably home by now, but I measured 54 MM. This is the same for a '97 S1 and an '03 XB if anyone is curious.

Ken,

I think SEMA Specialty Equipment Market Assn might be a good start. The kit car and hot rod industry encourages supporting them.

REQUEST:

For better or worse, I get MANY Buell related e-mails.

I am happy to help in anyway I can.

What I CAN NOT do is open attachments, jpeg, .doc, .pdf that arrive in e-mails with no subject, no REAL NAME or contact info or no explanation.

The "home" computer was installed by the same folks who did the Goldman-Sachs trading floor. I do not understand this array of 802 whatevr, flat panels and digital switchers. I do understand that I do not want to call IT and tell them I brought it down opening an attachment.

Help me differentiate between legit Buell owners needing help and the dude in India who wants me to have $500,000 for helping him get cash out of the country.

Mucho thanksalotta,
Court
