Which Inverted Forks ???? I am going to buy some inverted forks for my 2000 M2 which style should I buy ? White brothers, or SHowa ? Why ???? thanks | ||

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm new to the Badweb and I'm not a computer geek, so bear with me if everything isn't exactly right. I've been lurking in the shadows (reading, not posting) for a while now and I can't tell you how helpful and enjoyable this site has been. Most of the guys I ride with ride Jap sportbikes and it's fun being able to stay ahead of them in the turns. Of course, it isn't fun when they pass me on the straights, but that's another matter. Anyway, just wanted to say hello, and thanks. Oh, I ride a '99 X1, with Race ECM, V&H pipe, K&N, yellow w/ pm's, and stripped of all unnecessary plastic. Maybe later, I'll learn how to post pics. | ||

FB, Funny you should mention speeding tickets... My daughter was suppose to be home by 11:00PM last evening. 11:20 rolls around and the phone rings. It's the police. After I place my heart back in my chest and pick myself off the floor, he explains that my dear 17yo daughter was pullover for speeding. Seems she went by him at a very rapid rate. Didn't have the radar on so didn't get a reading. He pulled onto the road to give chase. Said his cruiser bounced off the 115mph limiter and she was pulling away from him. My first reaction was to chuckle. She was driving a PT Cruiser! That thing wouldn't do 115 mph if you dropped it off a cliff let alone pull away from a cop car... My second reaction was to thank God that she was OK and didn't hit a deer or something. He said he gave her a break and only gave her a ticket for 110mph. Exactly twice the speed limit. No reckless, careless or anything else. She pulled over as soon as she saw the lights. She was doing 40 at the time. Third reaction was to wring her neck when she got home. I was on the phone with the cop when she walked in the door. Needless to say, she will be using alternate transportation for quite a while. Her story was she was going about 85 or so. Now I need to figure out if it's worth contesting the speed. No doubt she was speeding but no where near 110mph. Need to talk to a lawyer and insurance guy to figure out options. Damn kids!!!!!!!!! Cheers, For all of you that missed the 2002 Team Elves event at Bonneville this year, I updated my gallery tonight (or this morning). If you've never attended a LSR event, at least this will give you an idea what it's all about. If you were lucky enough to make the previous Team Elves LSR events, this one was much different. The lines were EXTREMELY long. As a matter of fact at least 10 times longer than all other events. I couldn't even get the entire line in my camera (and they were 3 wide). Even more disturbing, the compound was at least a 5-minute drive (at 55 MPH) from the staging area. You couldn't even see it from the staging area. Waiting in line 4 to 5 hours was common. Because of this I wasn’t able to take to many pictures, plus I was with FMJ all the time (of course he wouldn't let me do anything but drive the truck). Enjoy, -JW:> | ||

Was reading at a newsstand last night in a cycle world publication about the 60°v-twin that S&S is working on and has apparently used in their LSR ventures. As I was reading the article I began to wonder if anyone got a good look at that other RR-ish bike's engine out at Bonneville? The article says the 60°V doesn't allow for more size, but does allow for shorter valve train geometry, better intake configuration, and some other stuff. It's not the "regular" cycle world, but one of their special editions. I'll probably go buy it at lunch to re-read the article. Might be something for the "racers" to check into. Don't know how that 60° would hang into a Buell-type frame though, might be a problem. Maybe this isn't news and is just news to me. I don't always pay attention sometimes. | ||

There was another company that tried the 60 deg deal, then even used cheep small block chevy parts, where they could, not sure if its around anymore, but i remeber thinking it would be neet to try, i would guess it was a little smother also, considering Proton is using that number in GP as opposed to hondas 72 deg set up interesting non the less ROger | ||

I'm pounding on an innocent sheet of aluminum to make a underseat tray for the Ma Duece (the first one is just barely OK, so I gotta do it over, right?). it's work hardening, as I'd expect. . . how do I anneal the poor abused sheet? I'd know what to do if it was steel or copper or brass, but I've not heard of how to anneal aluminum (I don't know the specific alloy . . . . surplus store purchase) bighairy? blake? any other metal butchers that can help? | ||

Try an oxcey acetalein(sp?) torch, A set on high, light pass, should leave a dark layer of black stuff, at least thats how i saw it done on TV, maybe you should pich up an english wheel 2 ROger and if you dont have the torch, let me know i have one at the shop | ||

ROg & CC thanks . . .I've got a Mapp/O2 torch that should work (unless Roger's shop wouldn't miss theirs ) like the Monster Garage shows, but am I the only one that thinks James is a pr, ehem, in possession of an inflated ego? | ||

Bomber, I found this with a Google search. It's from a blacksmithing type site. You should be able to anneal it as you would any non-ferrous metal. Get a sharpie permananet marker to use as an indicator and use a propane torch or other "gentle" heat source. Draw a line (about an inch long) on the aluminum and then heat it till the line vanishes. At that point you can quench it in water and go back to work. There are other indicators you can use, but basically you get it hot and then cool it off. Be carefull not to melt it! Brad | ||
