Whaaaaa Whaaaaaaa

What a bunch of whiney bitches you are.

Whaaaa, my motorcycle broke. Fuck you Erik Buell. Whaaaaaa.

A motorcycle is a luxury item folks...a toy. If you can't afford to fix it when it breaks, buy a car and shut the fuck up. Yeah, Buell has had a LOT of growing pains. But they are definitely on the right track and definitely give a shit about rebuilding the company.

You guys take this motorcycling shit way too seriously. I think you have such hatred toward Buell because you can blame a person. You can all tell Erik Buell to fuck himself. When your BMW breaks, who can you blame? Fritz, the engineer? Is Mr. Honda going to give a shit when your RC51 stops running? It's much harder to get so fired up at a corporation than it it to target your anger at an actual person.

I like that my Buell is the embodiment of someone's vision of what a motorcycle should be. It's not perfect and sure as shit isn't as reliable as my jap bikes, but I couldn't care less. It the coolest, most bad-ass motherfucker in my garage and talks to me in a way no other vehicle does. Buells stir passionate feelings because they have character and a personality all their own...something that is fairly unique. When it fails you take it personally.

Buy a cheap-ass jap bike for when the Buell breaks and move on.

Sorry for the rant but the whining just got to me.

Name Withheld to protect the guilty.

I posted on this thread because Court, someone i respect and admire, asked for my opinion.

I'm not whining, i'm not crying, and the only thing i'll take personally is some pussy ass motherfucker who wants to TRY and insult me by posting anonymously.

Come out of the closet, motherfucker.

At least i have the balls to stand behind what i post.

Go Fuck yourself, internet tough guy.
Keep hiding.

first of all, i was NOT inexperienced to motorcycles. i was, to Buells.

Prior to my Buell i had owned 15 count 'em 15 motorcycles (2 HD's) (since the age of 6) 10 of wich were bought and serviced by ME.

I was NOT in over my head. i WAS played for a sucker.

and the point of my relating the story, was that i was dissatisfied with the Buell, not the dealer, or the service, or whatever...

My local kawasaki dealer SUCKS! (worse than my Buell dealer)

but you see... the Kawi doesn't break down....

therefore i am not dissatisfied with the Kawi....

Make sense?

and you anonymous people should just turn of f your computers if you're so damn afraid of covering your ass.

why even bother posting?

Anony #2
I bet quite a few problems could be fixed by a better dealer network. However, the abortion of the 99 X1 Lightning I believe rests squarely on Buell Corporate. And since it's Erik's name on the tank, I say it's with him most of all. He didn't have the guts to prevent shipping a bike I'm sure he KNEW was a POS.

>Remember what happened a few years back when I posted similar statements?

I thought your main problem was the dealer not backing the independent shop's work after you took it there cause the dealer couldn't fix it?

Hmm common thread here:
>surveying owners on the product, and not the dealership
>there are dealers that HATE Buell
>One thing I think needs to be sorted out is the dealership servicing.
>bitchin about my old dealer
>I shouldnt have to accept poor service... and outrageous wait times
> I got sick of Chicago HD ripping me off
>by dealers (with outright lies about warranty repair, price gouging, and poor service by incompetent techs

Hell my first dealer almost killed me before they lost their dealership. My current dealer (Ted's in Alton, Il) is great for the service I don't do myself.

Next time you visit a dealer, ask if they have a Buell trained tech. It seems most don't and it's just whoever is next is line works on 'em.

Nothing new:

A good new product starts slowly going up in the first stage when it is just released, then it becomes praised to heaven, shortly after some disappointments become apparent and the appreciation sinks into the cellar: next there is a less faster rise till its long standing stage of appreciation.
For instance: The Honda Hawk 650 with its single sided swingarm. Honda made a big lot after the first launch and during the fast first rise of appreciation in the USA. But the turning point was just reached and not one bike was sold anymore: shiploads were imported from the States to Europe, where you could get them really cheap. (That`s when I bought one.) And now the appreciation has climbed up again and it is a cult bike. Why it was depreciated? Short on power. It is indeed not powerful, but an excellent bike. My M2 is powerful and an excellent bike.
Hans.

Court,

2 Buell X-1s, 3-motors, 47,000 miles.

You know my story as well as anyone, but what I'm thinking of is the whole Buell ownership experience. When I think of it in totality, I'm slightly more positive than when I think of just the products themselves.

I have had continual problems with my Buells since the first break-in miles. I have had problems with dealers, I have had problems communicating with the Buell company on what I would like from them.

What got me through all of it was a great group of friends that I had met through BRAG, ASBN, ATC, Badweb, Battle2Win, SacBORG and other places. People like yourself that really knew what was going on and really cared about getting problems fixed.

If it hadn't been for this support group, I would have given up long ago, and bought something different. I'd like to get something new right now, that is more reliable, but there isn't a Buell model that suits my needs exactly. I would like to see something a little bigger in frame and motor size.

I hear that when a bigger version of the Firebolt motor comes out it will be in a H-D Sportster first, and not in a Buell, which doesn't please me too much either.

So, when I say I'm dissatisfied with my X-1, that is only part of the story.

Jim

Anon,

I'm only stating what Court asked for. I added somethings that grdskpr and Court asked for regarding the dealer.

This is exactly the same thing Cecil is refering to when you get him going about BMC. Every one uf us unsatified customers was definately pulling for them 2 years ago. Go ahead and keep kidding yourself. Post anonymous you candy a$$.

When my BMW/Honda breaks? WTF, as of today I have had my Beemer 5 months longer and with twice as many miles without a single problem. And I've taken the thing RT from Chicago to Deals Gap 2 times.

The X1 made it a record of 150 miles at its longest run.

Incidently, i would like to say a few final things.

1. sorry for getting a bit crass there in regards to my responses to anony, and in my relation of my Buell experience. No disrespect to the collective BadWEB was intended, many of you have become close friends and supporters throughout my Buelldom. For that, i thank you.

2. to Blake, and the management of this forum. Anonymous posting from day one has been a bad idea. It's caused quite a few unnecesary flare ups. you want a level playing field, i recommend you figure out another way of doing it.

3. I'm not hanging out around the barbeque anymore. I sold the Buell, so i guess that makes me a Vegetarian.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish" as a great man once wrote.

Hope you all have good experiences from here on out. someday, if Buell builds something that i consider buying, maybe I'll be back.

But until then,
Have fun.

Because its a 'luxury' item is the very reason why I can't afford to have it in the shop. I can afford to cut the thing loose and dump the company.

I don't have to take this treatment. And I didn't. I never will again. If you are going to have something for the sake of fun then it better not cause you more stress than you had before you bought it (to release stress).

97 S3 bought new.

I have had minor issues such as cracking license plate holders, weaping base gasket (which was covered under warranty), all recalls were carried out at no charge and I've been happy with her overall.

Having said that all dealers are NOT equall and definately contribute to the problems. After having my gaskets replaced under warranty the bolts that connect the intake (carb)to the heads came out 1 week after I got it back. Needless to say that dealer has not seen me since and my local dealer, which totally shuns Buell other than Blasts, has taken very good care of me and my bike, though they rarely see me. lol

I've done a buncha stuff to her since day one, heads, carb re-jet, exaust, braided oil lines, bits and pieces here and there and as mentioned above keep her away from the dealers as much as I can.

I know others have been less fortunate than I. How many others? That is the question. You can count me in the positive list.

I love my bike. Done the rocker box deal once, no biggie. A few bucks and a couple of hours playing around with the thing. Still dealing with exhaust leak issues with my D&D pipe, but that's them, not Buell's fault. It's not something you can jump on and take off and neglect for thousands of miles on end. I look over mine all the time. I haven't had anything fall off, nothing's broke except for the gaskets, I probably didn't let it warm up properly. I'll recommend Buell to people, that's how I ended up with mine.

2000 M2

Overall very happy, although I did have my 2nd speedo sensor crap out on me last weekend. Rocker gaskets fixed under warranty. Just little stuff.

Overall the bike's been reliable and survived a lowside really well. I have about 6000 miles on it so far and if it stays together I will have it for a long time.

2000 X-1 Race stripe. 17,500 miles and counting.

Have I had problems? sure, all the basics. Rocker gaskets, recall shock, bad temp sensor (hey they go out, live it it), small things.

Have I done most of the breakdowns to myself? Yep! I installed a power commander, I installed an aftermarket exhaust not designed by Buell, (this has NOT failed BTW. I do not know what everyone else is doing to hang these things but my Borla has not cracked, split, fallen off or exploded like other systems), Changed the handlebars, foot controls, turn signals, o2 sensor, you get the picture.

On the All California Ride, I broke down. Middle of no where, on a mountain road. I could not find the problem, as my friend Tor and I sat by the side of the road waiting for the truck that BUELL set up to follow us, who stops by but Erik and his group.

Now something happened that a lot of you probably wont believe, but he stopped. He stopped personally to see if we were alright and if there was anything he could do to help. I told him it was more than likely a sensor deal as it was running way rich and wouldnt clean out. As there was nothing he could do for me I told him thanks for stoping but there was more road for him to ride and I'd meet up with them at the next stop.

After waiting a bit I re-tried the bike and it started right up. At this point I'm a little miffed but I'll take luck where I can get it and rode in to meet the truck who followed us into Bakersfield. The dealership brought me right in and got to work on it even though it was WAY after hours. Guess what they found?

Chaffed O2 sensor wire, THE ONE I INSTALLED MYSELF. Ran the wire too close to a sharp frame point. it was grounding on the frame and sending false signals of a lean condition to the ECM. We all make mistakes, I'm an MMI grad who has worked in two shops, still I'm Human.

Guess what, wasn't Eriks fault.

I cant say much about all your motors blowing up, I dont have all the information or back stories on how you ride, past intake leaks, ect, ect. All I know is my bike has had problems that were not a cause of Buell Motor Company.

To answer Courts question I quote myself from a post I put up on Sacborg less than a month ago.

"They will bury me with the flywheels of this motor when I die of old age because I will never part with this motorcycle for as long as I live. I will be draging boxes of it's parts around with me for the rest of my days saying that I'll rebuild her someday"

That about answers it

I'm not after the man personally. My beef is with an inferior product and a dealer network that simply can't deal with the situation.

The people here and there who ride them are damn good folks and that's why I hang around. Cept sometimes they love the thing so much that they look at it through rose colored glasses.

If a header fell off on me on the hyw without notice and nearly pole vault me to kingdom come I would definately not sugar coat my experience. No offense to anyone but that's scary stuff.

Hey, when did it become OK to curse on BADWeb anyway? A little respect here you guys!

Why does everyone only hear the parts of my story that help them justify a positive spin on the Buell thang?

>I thought your main problem was the dealer not backing the independent shop's work after you took it there cause the dealer couldn't fix it?

If that was my only hassle with the bike, I might still own it.

With all the activity Court's simple question generated, does everyone still think only .08% of Buell's customers are dissatisfied?
