Hey all you Bad Weather Biker's,
American Sport Bike is back with some new parts for your Buell's, V-Rod's, Aprilia's and Ductati's. Since we're mostly settled now, we've had some more time to dedicate to product development. The parts you've requested are on their way.
For the Firebolt XB9R and the new XB9S, we will have the C.F. front fender, C.F. heel guards, C.F. air intake and a C.F. oil scoop cover. These products are still in the works and will be available shortly. Now available though are the 6-way adjustable matching brake and clutch levers, stainless steel oil filters (that are cleanable and reuseable), protective tank and front fender covers made of Neoprene. Great for servicing the bike and/or storing the bike, no more scratches. These covers are available for the tube frame Buell's, the XB series and the V-Rod.
Speaking of the V-Rod, we've added to the Carbon Fiber Body Kits that we already have. In a few weeks we'll have the C.F. radiator shrouds, headlight bucket and license plate holders.

Also, in a few more weeks, we'll have some Carbon Fiber for the Aprilia RSV Mille. Items like the C.F. upper and lower chain gaurds, fairing vents, inside dash piece and heel gurds to match the existing line of current Aprilia Carbon Fiber.

And for any of you that have a Ducati or know of someone who does, we've got some Carbon Fiber for you too. Items like ram air intakes, tag relocators, buckle guards, vented clutch covers, clutch covers and rear fender with brake line cover will be available for the96-02 748's, 916's, 918's, 996's, and 998's.
Please let us know if there are any other parts that you may want or need. Thanks again to all of you for your ongoing support. Ride safe and accessorize a lot.

>Ferris, Jeans doing good, getting stronger every day.

glad to hear, Paul, glad to hear!

>P.S how's that shiny VFR??

even shinier S3Dave, just finished doing up the fork sliders and top tree, and have started on the handlebar risers.

so, you made it out of India in one piece? and hey, what's the deal about one of your people mowing down Snail on his 'Busa??? ;)

>Ferris: VERY glad to hear you're okay! That can be a scary thing, speaking as someone who had it happen last year.

thanks Aaron, this was the second major fire to threaten my home in a month, and from where i'm sitting i can look north up toward Kernville and see huge quantities of smoke billowing up from the McNally Fire, as the winds have picked up again.

heard on the radio this afteroon that the woman who started it was released from prison in '99 after serving five years for selling meth.

and now they're saying that if the fire was indeed an accident, as she's apparently stated, no charges will be filed against her.

>Oh My God , Please say thats not true !! You and I were going to ride there this summer. The loss of that unique place has put a pain spot on my heart and Im sure many others.

the General Store is gone, EBear, they were only able to save three of the rental cabins. the folks who ran that place couldn't have been any nicer, and i rarely rode past there without stopping for an ice-cream or a soda.

the Forest Service has the road closed just above Kernville, so can't go up and check things out. i know i'll probably bawl my eyes out when i finally do.

be careful friends,

Ferris,

Glad to hear you came through the fire okay.

We know all about CA fires as in '91 we bought a vacant lot here in SB - vacant because the prior owner's home had been destroyed in the 1990 Painted Cave fire (over 600 homes destroyed - the fire stopped when the winds finished blowing it to the ocean...).

SB County changed the building codes outlawing wood shake roofs and making other changes in terms of eave construction, etc., in order to make the homes more resistant to such wildfires in the future.

So we built a stucco house with a tile roof .

You are one of the lucky ones.

thanks for the kind words, Jim, very much appreciated.

my neighbor three houses down lives in a modest home with a wood shake roof. pretty uncommon building practice around these parts, the roof construction that is, am assuming the house was built when people's mindsets were different.

anyway, embers from the fire blew up on his roof and caught several of the shakes on fire, but quick-thinking neighbors were able to douse the flames with a garden hose, and literally saved his house.

it's ALWAYS windy up here at the lake, and any time we get a wildfire it's the wind that usually decides what goes and what stays.

for the second time in a month, we get to stay.

thanks again,

Ferris,

The good news is the roads will still be a joy to ride and the forest will return - it will just take some time. They say it is nature's way to regenerate.

One of my favorite roads, the 33 North of Ojai (part of the CA BRAG ride I believe) was heavily hit by forest fire the Sunday of the first weekend in June (June 2nd?). The road is still fun but the devastation surrounds you. When riding through there now the temperature increases at least 10 degrees F. in that stretch due to the lack of vegetation. I can't wait for it to grow back.

Santa Barbara has in the past had a large quantity of houses built using the 'board and batten' (sp?) siding and wood shake roofs. Those homes went up like tinder boxes the day of the Painted Cave fire. Embers would hit the roofs (it was about 95+ deg. F.) and 'poof'.

A few incredibly brave souls in our neighborhood defied the Police (evacuation was ordered) and stayed on their roofs with garden hoses and saved their homes. Amazing stuff. Not without great risk, however. When 600 homes are burning and a wildfire raging in 30 - 40mph winds the fire crews are trying to stay alive as well...

Now for the 'eerie' part of the tale - I believe 5 or 6 churches of various faiths were in the path of the Painted Cave fire. Although homes all around the various churches were destroyed not a single church burned. Amazing, eh?

TEAM ELVES UPDATE

This fascinates me, this is your team. It grew out of an association that developed on this very website and has become a sterling example of the power of effective collaboration when the members of the team are not limited geographically.

Holland, Belgium, England, Australia, the USA and a couple I'm sure I am missing. A Crew Chief from Colorado being able to gather on-site crew assitance from Amsterdam and Florida? Never heard of, never dreamt of in the time of our parents when your talent pool was bascially the folks on the block.

The most amazing part, is that speed is only part of it. Pardon me for, from time to time, in the course of this for being absolutely overwhelmed.

Down to business.....

Henrik, is taking a well deserved couple of days by his very own lonesome to wander Vermont on an S-2. But, before he left he has accomplished miralces. If you have not been to www.teamelves.com I'd suggest a visit. It'll take you an hour to wade through all the new stuff. Be sure to check out this years racers and "Elf Classes" under the Bonneville drop down. By the way, your website, empasizing what I said upstairs there, is brought to you by a Doctor from Denmark. With me here?

I'm off to keep busy with my preparations today but am going to ask you guys and gals to do me a favor. Team Jerseys, way cool this year, are ordered and in production. T-shirts will start on Monday and I am needing to give them a number. I do not want, next year, to deal with the excess inventory problem again. So, if you read this and want t-shirt(s) for $20 each, drop a note to TeamBuellElves@aol.com with your name and what you want in the subject:

EXAMPLE: Court - 3XL, 2M

This will allow me on Monday to order THE number and a few extras.

By the way, the T-shirt this year will be the same as the TEAM ELVES RACING jersey, on the back, with only the Team Elves patch silk screened on the front. They should look awesome.

Here's a rough example of what it should look like. For the t-shirt you'll have to mentally remove all but the Team Elves Racing from the front.

back of shirt front of shirt

Thanks in advance to everyone for all you have done. This year is set to be nothing short of spectacular.

Would someone who has access to the SacBorg and ATC websites post this message there as well in case folks want shirts.

Ferris; yes I made it out of India O.K. Quite an experience, after the first 2 weeks I was considering building a raft and floating from Surat across the Indian Ocean to Abu Dhabi just to get away, but I finally got used to it. I am planning on returning for another month on August 5th. I feel bad about Snail's mishap. We have a few wonky drivers here and I guess Snail got to meet one up close.

No. If you filled out info on your registration we have it and it was in the order. I just wanted to poll the assembled masses for interest prior to locking in the number tomorrow evening.

Families Rejoice at Miners' Survival

By LARRY NEUMEISTER
.c The Associated Press

SOMERSET, Pa. (July 28) - Cheering and waving their hands in the air, families and friends of the nine coal miners discovered alive celebrated after their torturous three-day wait came to an end.

``I don't want to use the term loosely, but it was a miracle,'' said David Streets, a distant relation of Robert Pugh, one of the miners.

Hundreds of people had gathered in the Sipesville Fire Hall, where many family members had been keeping vigil for days. When news came Saturday night that the men were safe, the room exploded with euphoria.

``There was so much hope in that room it was incredible,'' said Sandra Watkins, a friend of trapped miner John Unger.

On Friday night, the families of the victims of Flight 93 sent along words of support and encouragement to the loved ones of the miners. The mine several hundred feet underground was not far from the Sept. 11 crash site.

``During our time of tragedy, you extended yourselves to us and tirelessly continued to do so. We consider you our family, and we sincerely hope and pray that the recovery effort will be successful in bringing your loved ones home,'' said the e-mail, which was signed ``The Families of United Flight 93.''

incredible, emotional, miraculous, heartwarming, humbling, inspiring.

congrats to everyone involved, and welcome back to the miners.

wow!
