I don't know about you guys but my Buell maintains its own corrosion protection,(see picts sect.) At different intervals, unknown to rider, It expels Moble1 syn. over the entire engine, frame, exhaust and wheels.
Changes I'd like to see the factory make?!
How about a built in tow truck!
I have not loged 300mi with out a failure of some sort.

F-USA Pro Honda Oils/Yoshimura 600cc allows the firebolt to play huh?? that is cool. Too bad the AM doesn't. But then the AMA 600cc are not close to stock and I'm guessing that F-USA is

Hey Seeeu911!
Spring Preload settings per Manual page 42

Rider 180-210 pounds, Rear Setting (Ramp Position) 3-4, 210+ is 5.
Front Setting (number of lines showing) 4

In case the rear shock is not marked in numbers, the lowest "step" is one, the highest is 7.
It looks like you count "number of lines showing" by including the line just flush with the handlebar clamp.

Says you need to take off the seat to get to the shock, and the Torx Wrench and Shock Spanner wrench should be in you underseat toolkit.

Rear Damping for Average Roads/sport riding are factory preset. Rear Rebound 1 1/4, compression 1 1/4. Front Forks rebound 1 5/8, compression 1 1/2.

Turns are described as "turns out from maximum"

Have a safe trip!

All austenitc ferrous structures are non-magnetic. The lack of magnetism is due to the particular micro-crystalline structure of the stainless steel.

All steels corrode, just at different rates depending on their particular chemisty, heat treatment and other factors from the manufacturing process.

A patina forms on some steels, aluminium, and vaiours other materials. After the outer layer of molecules have been oxidized the permeability of the oxygen through the surface of the material is so slow that oxidation appears to have arrested.

Although the Machinery handbook is good, in my opinion the best desktop handbook is the American Welding Society "Desktop Metals Handbook".

There are tens (perhaps hundreds) of various stainless stell alloys. Stainless, as indicated earlier, is based on the nickel content of the steel.

Next you need to look at Aluminium. If you think stainless is complicated try a 17-4PH aluminium.

Thank you Arvel I got into a discussion on metals with a Sword/Knife smith once and have ever since been a real snob about carbon steel knives. Thankfully I'm headed to Japan where I should be able to fix that fetish

Xgecko...All the jewelery is in constant contact with the air. I'd say the human body is a fairly hostile environment for metals. It all looks as new.

I personally like ATS-34 best for knives. That high carbon steel crap always breaks at the point if you use it roughly...and is a pain to "field" sharpen.

OHHH If you are refering to that kind of Surgical stainless it is already oxidized/has a patina. Most Body Mod Jewelry is of 317L sorta of steel and the forming under heat that it goes through causes this oxidation. I to have had a piece of metal in a not so friendly place (or freindly depending on your POV) for some time but I still watch it carefully for any degredation. A simple scratch of the metal's suface could lead to a more painful oxidation

Today I was showing someone my Buell, and things I've changed/modified on it...and he asked if I had gone to school for engineering...I laugh now...but he was serious. Hell nawww. You don't need to be an engineer to know how to hack things apart!

Well Blake, Jeff..I did not buy this XB9, she belongs to my friend Sandy. He bought her Friday. He is traveling for the week so he brought the bolt to my garrage with 100 miles only, left the keys and a full tank of gas with instructions to break her in and have some fun.
I will be buying a Bolt, I am holding out for the S ! I plan to to buy the first one delivered to Orlando HD/Buell.
I still have my S1W..she will never be sold...Jeff hook up with us for a sunday ride soon.

I gotta go spank some duck's on this am ride ! Thanks again for the quick info guys.

TEAM ELVES REMINDER

PLEASE . . . . if you have any intention of joining TEAM ELVES at the Booneville Salt Flats for this years World of Speed and Buell-Ganza, get over to 2002 TEAM ELVES REGISTRATION and get registered.

This it NOT registraion committing you to race, it's simply a way for us to keep track of who we've got with us, to create a pool of volunteers (currently seeking Course Control Elves to keep track of where our bikes are at all times), and to allow us to live up to our "Best Organzied Team on The Salt" reputation.

There is TONS of work being done this weekend in about 7 states and 3 countries. Help us out by getting registered early.

To the funnest, safest and FASTEST Elf-Ganza yet!

Donn,
I talked to Eric @ O'do HD. He told me he's only getting 2 lightnings this year. 1 Yellow and 1 Black. I'm gonna check after the first of the year and see how long I'll have to wait for a black one.

Em is down for rear isolators right now. I'm gonna see if I can get them good willed when I have the recalls done. After that I'll be up for a Sunday ride.

Blake,

It was late. Besides, let really confuse the issue with a double wall pressure vessel with a brass interior and a steel exterior that and maintain an internal pressure of 5000 psi. with a 6" diameter.

Two 2001 X-1's with 300 miles each. One has PM wheels $7995 and the other blue wheels $6495. This was at Downtown HD in Seattle. Firebolt next to them $9995. The salesguy wanted to sell me the Bolt. Also 4 V-Rods on the floor. Apparently the $22,000 price gouge is ready to fall.

Blake,
Dave took the crew out for a ride today. I couldn't make it due to a womens pro soccer game in Minneapolis. I think he only accesses his mail at work anyway so it'll have to wait until Monday. (hopefully he didn't crash the Firebolt again.)
