Pammy,
No Daytona for me this year, timing of the job is off. Should be in place(Fort Walton Beach)the first week of april.

Now the funny part.....Someone asked for me to ship out to Guam for an extended island vacation. The big boss said no, she had plans for me to be in florida. First I heard that I was committed to this vacation/work in florida. It is good to know that some peeps I work with appreciate me enuff to ask for my presence. Or actually I know my way around aircraft. Especially those darn C-130s. It really makes the higher ups heads spin.

Will ping ya later with whats and whens. The S1 needs a good tuning and mikuni. I am really liking how it feels with a bone stock XB top-end on it. Maybe put a little of Wes' magic into it......

Loki, just let me know what you need...your wish is my command. Glad you don't have to go to Guam, but you coulda visited Capt Petey if'n you'd hadta.

Mjh, YOu will have to install a smaller main jet for top end. This may mean that you may need to raise the needle a bit if everything is OK midrange. The dynojet/thunderslide kits work great. You can't go wrong with either. Keep in mind to do one thing at a time so you can track your progress and be able to backtrack without starting over.

Loki,
I had forgotten that you were a C130 wrench, or was it a load master?
(See I told yo I forgot!)
A friend of mine is a flight engineer on a C130!
He's done 2 stints in the sandbox in the last 1 1/2 year and a number of shorter deployments to Germany and other places in that area.

He really digs that aircraft...

Brad

air travel story

best I can do, it sure DOES sound like an urban myth, though, doesn't it? I like the 68 Impala with Jato story myself.

That story of the blown up luggage showed up just after they reopened the airports right after 911 when they shut down LAX for a possible BoB situation. Only the plane hadn't left the ground, as in the flight was LA to PHX not PHX to LA. I will look through my old Email archives and see if I can find the original that was sent to me.

The air travel situation is one of those " don't get me wrong, but..." things.

I remember when luxury travel was the deal. Now, we want $200 tickets to London, and we ride a third world bus in the sky. All you need is a lady with live chickens, & it's "Romancing the Stone" on the bus to Cartegena.

I train folk, & one lesson is "don't give the rent a cops a hard time. Their jobs sucks more than yours, & they certainly aren't paid well for it." That said, and I don't want that job, the TSA has made a rep in a few short years that is not enviable. No one doubts that a petty action could & does take place.

I won't even get into the idiocy of upper management demanding that air Marshals dress "properly". The MIB look is not a rational undercover fashion. Once more the guys & gals in the field suffer because of Buerocrap. ( Pat pending )

I would take anything said in those "Total Motorcycle Website" manufacturer reviews with a large grain of salt. Note the Harley interview where they say they're coming out with a VR-powered version of the XR! And I have it on good authority that a VR-powered Buell is not on the schedule.

I am on the phone with Tom Wild to do a follow-up interview, I am the 2nd person to call.

Steve A hit it on the head, this is a canned piece from the moto equivalent of National Enquirer.

Having spoken to Tom, I declare him both "in shock" and innocent. If he needed "reprimanded" he's getting it today, my call was not the first. Amy, who answers the phone, is even trying to figure out Tom's newfound celebrity today.

See if my interview with Tom sounds more on the mark:

quote:

"I remember talking to a guy on the floor, but it was about the excitement surrounding the FX racing Buell will be participating in this year".

He went on to confess a long standing affinity for Buell and, in my personal opinion, shares our excitement for the brand.

I have invited Mr. Wild to tune in here to defend himself OR share his inside info here first.

: )

Live....from the scene....your on the spot reporter.

Steve: Doesn't "honest" journalism just lack excitement?

Court...Thanks for the update. I hope all goes well for Tom Wild.

I also wonder what the chances are of getting Total Motorcycle to print a retraction. Things like this make one want to sue the hell out of them.

I won't even bother going into either HDI's or Tom Wild's grounds to sue. Heck, we can even do it as a class action suit as their yellow journalism caused us great anxiety and disappointment over their report.

they quoted tom wild thus: "As for secrets, I can let out that we are going to be using the Harley-Davidson V-Rod engine for a Buell model this year, which will be released at Daytona 2005! The Harley-Davidson V-Rod engine will of course go though our research and development departments, which we have done in the past with the other Harley-Davidson type engines, to ensure that the engine is a perfect fit with our new model. What the result will be is a Buell V-Rod derivative that will wow our riders and customers." did he NOT actually make this statement?

Mj;
You might want to invest in a Mikuni. The HSR42-11 kit is a bolt-on which uses the stock cables and will out-perform even the Thunderslide carbs in terms of throttle response; this first-hand from a former T-slide user. The HSR can be had for around $250-$275 if you shop the ebay auctions. Well worth the cost and effort compared to upgrading your existing CV40. Jet changes are a snap, too. There's a whole lot of info in the knowledge vault regarding this topic, if you are interested. Anyway, welcome to the board and hang around a bit- you'll learn a lot and meet some pretty neat people.

Captainkirk and Bomber:
You guys were right about the fuel problem with my M2 cutting off. Turned out to be small bit of trash in float bowl. Accessing it was no big deal either. Guess thats why I like the "black mule", I can work on it myself. Installed in-line fuel filter to minimize repeat.
Thanks to ALL of you buellers for your suggestions. Problem solved, M2 runs like stink again and I learned a LOT in process. Ride safe.

JB-
That's why it's best to learn to work on them yourself. If that happened on a Saturday night out in the middle of nowhere.... You now have the confidence to fix it.
No dealer to chase down or work into their schedule. Good work and happy riding.

I have not tested the Vrod myself but i have heard nothing but good things of how well the engine handles, however i think the Vrod and Buell should not be intergrated. Im sure the engineers at Buell are smart if not smarter then the guys at Porche and can improve in their engines. I also think that if Buell wants to have the right to be called an American Motorcycle, it should be designed by Americans, no need for the germans. by the way Ford GT will do some major whip a$$ on Porche anyday.
