Hello Everyone,
It is time for me to let go of my 2008 Buell XB12S Lightning. I am the second owner, I have owned this bike since November of 2019. I knew a few things needed to be checked and I was lucky enough to meet John Garland through this group. John took my bike under his wing and replaced pretty much every important part. All new sensors, rocker box gasket, new fan, cleaned the fuel injectors, new brake fluid, new brake pads, new belt, new front and rear wheel bearings, this bike is basically new!
The issue is, my bike throws a short to ground code which causes it to run wacky for a few miles, once warmed up on my personal local little illegal racetrack it runs fine, idles fine.
This bike needs someone who has the time and knowledge to check the wiring harness and be able to locate and fix the short.

I’ll be at Little Tally 4/4 if you want to check it out. She loud and proud!

Bike is located in Pine Mountain GA

Check ecm connection & wires near the rear shock. Had an 06 shorting one injector when I’d sit on the seat. Check under the air box as the o2 & head temp sensor can short to the frame there with that mileage.

If not there then check the head bearing area of the wire harness & intake connectors.

It is probably something simple and dumb.

Jrobey7 - John Garland worked on my machine and checked (I am sure) all of the spots you mentioned. He feels the whole harness has to come off to be able to find the short.
