I'm looking for a belt tensioner or some way to tension a chain on an xb12x.

Modified stock bracket, with the ebr idler and spacer. The latter two are available from ebr

Hope this helps

G0600.07AH Idler sprocket. May or may not be 520. I'll check when I get home.

G0606.07AH Idler Sprocket spacer.

Here's the homemade way of turning the stock idler bracket into a tensioner:

I have no clue. Do you have any suggestions with using the above setup? Or is it best to go ahead and get the spring one

There's a solution, albeit expensive.

The best solution I have found for streetbikes is the Buell stock belt drive system.

What are you trying to accomplish by going to a chain?

On the Uly, I did have to drill out the mounting holes for the stock tensioner slightly to let it shift a little and take a little load off the belt. Otherwise I could feel it binding up under very heavy loads on big bumps, which is really bad for the 5th gear drive assembly bearings.
