Author Message   Diablobrian Posted on Thursday, June 25, 2015 - 08:19 am:        I'd like to upgrade the front brake on my firebolt from the 6 piston to the 8 piston caliper. However, I'm really not made of money and was hoping someone parting a bike with the ztl2 would take pity. It does not need to be cosmetically perfect as long as it is mechanically sound. The master cylinders are far cheaper and easier to get than the calipers. It was required when doing the upgrade. Do a search for the 2010 PDF parts catalog and it lists the parts numbers for all of it. I ordered the line from Surdyke for like $50 if I recall. I also scored the Caliper on Ebay for $225 shipped, so deals do occur if you watch. Good Luck   Nillaice Posted on Thursday, June 25, 2015 - 01:25 pm:        back in 2008 i thought about upgrading my XB's but I feel that the 6 pot caliper and MC is sufficient and more than capable for my riding ability/pace. monetarily speaking, there are more ZTL1 systems out there (for replacement/used parts) and the 6-pot pads are more common and way cheaper, so it's a long-term money saver for me. I'm quite fond of EBC's FA345HH and I could see the 8-pot pads being discontinued from many product lines because the demand for them will wane. installing and removing the front wheel is easier with the smaller caliper, but that's just a bonus. I believe I got them from D2Moto, but that may have only been the Kevlar rear pads I got for $7.70. Edit- rear pads came from D2Moto, front pads came from Sixity.
