Here's a long shot but I will start searching now. The frame for S2 #18 is sitting in the back of my garage right now waiting for it's turn. This one may have some historic significance - it was campaigned by Peterson's HD (Miami) in Championship Cup series when new - and has never been titled. I don't usually (or EVER) do restorations because I see too many guys in the antique HD forums playing "Motorcycle chess" and getting all wrapped around the axle on things like the correct shade of cloth covered wire for their brake light switch - but I am going to make an exception for #18, She showed up as a frame, race livery body work, and MSO - I have in my personal hoard a pre-recall swing arm, shock and early front shock mount, The hardest piece to find, I think, will be a set of the early billet trees. If anyone has a set, I shore would be interested in them.

I'd dig into some research about THAT bike - if it was campaigned as a race bike, it may well have had a different front end on it (and rear end, for that matter). I'd hunt old photos, and contact Peterson's to see if any of the guys there remember it, or if they remember "those days". If you're going to "restore" it as a race bike, no sense putting a stock front end on it if it had custom triples with Ohlins forks...right?

Good call - that's been on my list of things to do for this one. I have learned so far that the GM of that dealership has been there for over 40 years, so there may be a chance of getting some more info re: same. I have a call into him and am looking to speak to him tomorrow

My thought is that they probably ran with the stock forks, as those WP Romas were considered pretty exotic back in the day - but we will see what we find out. More news to come...
