Just bought a 08 Uly and LOVE it. But it has a Special Ops muffler that's TOO loud for my taste. Could be interested in a tunable Supertrapp, or something considerably quieter that what I have. Thanks...Ed Olson

Don't discount the Jardine RT-1 in your search. I have the re-packable, titanium model with the removable "quiet insert". This muffler, with the insert in place, provides an increase in performance over stock and has a deep, muffled tone that is a pleasure to ride with. It is not "stock quiet", but it is also not anything like the Special Ops, Drummer and Hawk mufflers which are all considerably louder.

Thanks RBuck. Appreciate the come-back. Sounds about like what I'm interested in. I ride with earplugs in almost ALL the time and the "noise" is "tolerable". But the other day I went for a ride around the block sans helmet and WOW..... I'd call that LOUD. Thanks again. Ed.

While not exactly "quiet" it's relatively mellow sounding.

I'm just the opposite...i'd like to loose my stock pipe on my uly and get a louder one....if it wasn't so damned expensive to buy the matching ECM i'd be on it.

Destiny I've got a stock pipe taken off my 08. I liked it a lot but my wife wanted the "harley" sound...

Soooo, I bought a used Spec Ops like yours, mine has two outlets on it and it was too loud for my taste so I bought a pair of Bassani baffles ($20 or so.. and you could wrap them with fiberglass matting) off Ebay. They're sized for 1-3/4" drag pipes and they fit right in my outlets. Bingo, louder than stock so my baby's happy, quieter than the Spec Ops so I'm happy. I wish everything were this easy.

BTW, if you don't have it now beg borrow or steal the EBR race ECM. Seems to quiet the pipe just a bit and this bike just runs sooooo much better!

Yes...the EBR ecm is money well spent for use with any muffler mod or aftermarket muffler. I found that, aside from the more sensible fan logic, my engine displayed a significant power increase from 2700rpm-up.

Stock Ulysses pipes are the outright quietest pipes available. I believe most 2010 models got the turned back exhaust to eliminate it blowing on your feet on S & R models.
If you want quiet I'd go with a stock pipe for awhile. Then keep your aftermarket if you need to make some noise at a bike meet up or show.
Only takes hr or so to swap exhausts & that's doing it "carefully".

If my wife weren't in love with the "Harley sound" I'd swap my stock pipe on in a heartbeat. I can hear the motor just fine thanks, even with earplugs inside my Qwest..

I do like the sound of the spec ops and I've detailed elsewhere how to fit Bassani baffles to the pipe, it's quieter than any non-stock exhaust I've ever heard on a Buell..

I wish there were a way to hear what some consider loud. I have an 08 Xt with stock pipe and that is what I didn't like most when I rolled it off the HD dealership lot in Eden Prairie. (yes, I'm from Minnesota too)

I had the factory race kit on my previous 12s, and loved the sound.

I would be up for a trade if a person could hear that pipe. Who knows, there may be a road trip in my future just so the two of us could compare them.

Do you have any aftermarket ECM or tuning done to utilize that pipe that you know of, or was it all from the previous owner?
