I purchased my first Buell, a 95 T-Bolt, in 1995 from Kosco HD in NJ. With under 1000 miles on it, the original coil over shock had a catastrophic failure when one of the mounting eyelets snapped clean off. The low speed accident, which occurred in my driveway, severely damaged the bike which ultimately resulted in Kosco/HD/Buell replacing my entire motorcycle with another brand new one for free. I don't know the story behind what all happened but my replacement T-Bolt got called in for a new replacement shock after I owned it for several months. The replacement shock had the cover over the spring like seen on the later Buell's. The shock on eBay may or may not be one of those shocks that HD/Buell was replacing, but if it was me I would sure want to know more about it. |

The stock shocks were recalled and replaced with the 'covered' rear shocks. There were/are companies out there that made titanium kits that replaced the suspect parts so that owners could keep the coil-over shock. One of the companies was/is "American (something or other)" and another is WesTek; there were probably others, but I'm out of "the know" these days. I believe the shock for sale is stock. And that's about all I know about 'em. |
