Just reading his post...probably not a whole lot. I'd contact the person who's selling the bike.

Wow...and this Buell is considered one of the "collectables". Doesn't make me feel real good about the strength of the Buell resale market. Ugh.

I've schooled many people on Buells lately. They see my S3T and have no idea what it is and once I tell them what I paid for it ($3500 in my case) they are amazed and want one right away.

I feel that the HD owned version of Buell was the motorcycle industries best kept secret. Hell many of those that do know about Buell's have no idea Eric started EBR. They think he just went out of business and went away. I've turned over a dozen folks onto BWB and EBR and am always amazed that people come back with similar comments about what great bikes they are and how did they no know about them. I think part of that WAS due to Buell being owned by HD.

I think EBR needs a good PR campaign. Maybe BWB needs one too to drive a resurgence of interest in the older models.

Markets have low and high points. The Tuber market has been in the toilet for a long time. That means it's a good time to buy, a bad time to sell.

Not a whole lot of things that sit on wheels appreciate in value

Very true. I'll be the Grim Reaper here for a minute by saying: no matter how much we want to believe it...Buell's, in general, are not collectible and they may never be in the true sense of the word. We can argue...oh mine is a "Limited Edition", or only 10 were made of this color, or 30 of that...you know the hype and the rant. Truth be told, there are very few Buells that are collectible, and those that are, are already in museums, not owned by you or I. I've owned six Buells since 1995 and not one of them was worth what I thought it might be worth when the time came to sell. And, if you don't know it already, Buells are notoriously hard...to...sell. Heck, you want to really get sick...just take a look at Buell values in the KBB Motorcycle Guide. That's a wake-up call. I don't like it any more than the next Buell owner, but facts are facts, and the fact is...our motorcycles will be worth less next year at this time no matter what "Special Edition", "Signature Edition", "Anniversary Edition"... or any other model we own. That is why the ones I own now will most likely be useful only for parts once I am done running the miles through them. With that said...the Buells I have owned have been the most pleasurable bikes I have ridden in my 45 years of owning many types and makes of motorcycles. And I say to Erik (who's fading signature is on my Ulysses), thank you for that!

"Not a whole lot of things that sit on wheels appreciate in value"

Agreed, although I was shocked to find out my 1975 FJ40 is worth 3 times what I paid for it and twice what it was worth new and it is in fair shape with non-matching numbers...

Totally agree with you here. I've owned many bikes and I kick myself for waiting until 2012 to purchase my first (and only... so far) Buell. If I had the space I would own several more.

It's the "best kept secret",(as airbozo said), and the chopper bait pricing I like best about the brand. I didn't buy my bike to polish and admire. I bought it to ride! When I got rid of my metric cruiser, I pretty much knew I wanted a touring bike. My more "experienced" riding role model buddies were on 1300 V-stars, Dynas, and BMW K1200s. There were a few bikes on my short list. The BMW R1150, Yamaha FJR, even the Duc ST4. I had heard of Buell, but never really looked at one. I didn't actually ride one until 2009. The Buell delivered everything I wanted, upright riding position, luggage, with the bonus of hot rod looks, and a snarly exhaust growl, for half the money. I finally bought one off of this forum in 2010.
With the help of this forum for parts sourcing & technical advice, I easily could ride this bike until it's worn out, rebuild it, and wear it out again for less than any of the others. The layout might freak out a shop with "mad dog" or something similar in the name, but the Sportster based drive is the small block Chevy of the industry. Everybody knows it. A roadside breakdown is likely not a major technical hurdle for the closest shop.
Keep the secret to those who figure it out on their own, and we'll have cheap, fun bikes to ride forever.

I'm wit 'scrounger.

The tubers are the Airheads of American: reliable with EXCELLent gas mileage, fun, reliable, strong.

I recently got myself another decent job after a 5 year draught. Back to collecting tubers.
$2600?!

the bike still seems to be available. I would do a fly and ride next week to get it to a good home. Did anyone see this bike? I would like to be sure not to fall into a trap sitting at the airport in Cincinnati :-)
Tsanders, did you ever go check it out?
Thanks!
Cornel
