No major problems with the forcewinder, they work well.

You have to figure out a spooge solution. If it were me, after trying all sorts of things I didn't end up liking on my M2, I'd just route it back into the intake. Others use catch cans.

Also make sure the forcewinder and the carb gasket aren't blocking any tiny vents in the carb inlet, some were manufactured wrong and need some quality time with a dremel tool to relieve a hole for a tiny carb vent to breathe.

Great finds!

I had a Force Racewinder on my s2T and a Forcewinder on my previous S2, didn't care for them much. I'm sure it was moreso how my bike is tuned, but I much prefer the current NRHS round A/C I have now. The Racewinder seemed to have more dip in power in the low end, but I could be wrong.

Oddalloy, yeah I know, it was a great deal. Although I did have to drive ~1200 miles round trip to get it. Plus I've already dropped $300-$400 freshening it up and getting it dialed in, with much more to come, I'm sure. Plus I had some knucklebusting fun with it replacing the isolators, which really didn't need to be replaced anyway (at least not yet).
But it's all good. The bike is special and I'm thoroughly enjoying it for the unique and very cool vehicle that it is.

Reepicheep thanks for the tip on the forcewinder. I'll probably go ahead and get one. They look cool and the knee clearance should be about as good as it gets. Although like Court said, I'm already kinda getting used to the splayed knee thing while riding. The only problem for me is that I have a 34" inseam and the Corbin seat is a bit like a slippery sliding board, forcing me towards the tank.

Phelan that intake looks awesome, and I suspect it'll provide better overall performance than an open system like the forcewinder. Plus it looks better than the stock breadbox. Win-win.

Rkc00 great photography of your bikes. That's cool you also have a nice rider S1 so you can enjoy letting your mint S1 remain just that. I also like the silver color a lot. I think Thunderstruck may be leaning towards that color scheme too for his "new" S1, as well.

That S1 looks very nice in black. I'd keep it that way and find another in silver.

Prices are so cheap in America you should all have at least two . I spend as much again freighting and taxes
before I get to ride. I don't care now. Can't take it with me.

"...but I'm somewhat doubtful a minty fresh version of my bike will be worth 20 large within a mere ten years."

Welcome to the real world.

"Good luck with it."
Thank you Rkc00, I'm very pleased with it. It's not perfect, but much better than I ever expected. It's a crapshoot buying from so far away.

Your red S1 deserves to be in the foyer of EBR/Hero future Headquarters.

GeeDee, I'm liking the bike in black but with the Buell sticker bubbled off the tank and the eventual conversion to a single tail, parts are going to need to be repainted. Every street bike I've ever owned has been black. Great color for a bike but I want color on this bike to really set it off. Red would nice but the General has a red one and I don't want the bobbsey twins thing going on. I want it to be a factory available color for an S1 though. So I think that leaves me with silver, white and molten orange. This is going to be a long range project. This year I'll just clean it up, fix a few seeping gaskets and put a few miles on it. It's stored indoors so it will be well preserved.

I have an XB Lightning too so buying a second S1 and having 3 1 person bikes would really narrow the variety in my riding stable.

Good to see the international markets on these bikes is so high... even the XB's in Japan are pricey.

Ratbuell, I'm rarely spontaneous but you know I've wanted one for years. Hope to get out and ride with you this year.

Definitely Tony!

Don't forget high voltage yellow...or if you want "a" factory color you could use yellow jacket pearl from the S2.

Maybe you can go with pink fur like this German chick did? Haha...

And geedee, the hyperinflated prices shown on the Japan website you referenced are of course not representative in any way of what those same bikes sell for in the US. There are onerous fees and restrictions associated with shipping, importing, inspecting, licensing/titling and selling an American S1 in Japan. Those restrictions obviously would subtract from any apparent price differential between the two places, in a manner similar what your stated experience is in NZ. Here's the current reality of prices in the US (as just one example):

Hope you enjoy your new S1 as much as I'm enjoying mine. The yellow color is really growing on me too.

High voltage yellow S1's look fantastic.

This low-res picture doesn't do it justice.

I'm so glad to see that my S1 can serve as a reference for how poor the US market is for S1's....

Just brought these home from across the river.

The black '96 is a little rough with 18k miles and some questionable mods. It's going to require a fair bit of work to put it to rights.

The orange '98 is pretty clean and unmolested with 5k original miles. I'm thinking it might look good in the living room. Something to sit on and make motorcycle noises through those long, cold winters.

Love that Nuclear Blue and Molten Orange combo. That's a nice looking bike. There's an X1 on ebay at the moment in that colour.

Keep buying them Lornce and you'll need all those parts yourself .

Twintalon, find a way to keep your bike. If you need the money, just sell a kidney or something.

I was always a sucker for that orange / blue combo also. I hope I never see an M2 with that combo for sale, I don't know where I would store it...
