I am NOT CONNECTED & don't like or agree with it, BUT I see a Ulysses being parted on Ebay... I wouldn't support it but I know some people need uly parts.
good luck and I suggest conspiring with others so you don't bid each other up and don't support these companies.

Yeah, it's always a bitter sight to see a Buell being parted-out.. however, that Uly on evilbay had frame and other damage that was most likely an ins. total bought-up by the big p-wall part-out scavengers..

Meh.. at least their goods are offered in a professional, descriptive, and somewhat reasonably priced venue

Its from Pinhead Cycles and they offer no warranty no returns and no exchanges. I can tell you from first hand experience they will send you the wrong part and happily refuse to make it right. In short they suck.

Yea you have to be 100% sure you know what you are buying, they often sell damaged parts at twice brand new retail cost. I have got a few things off them cheap before, so if you do some research and know exactly what you are getting ahead of time they can be worth it.

Guys,

Don't be so negative.....look at the occasional Uly part-out as 7-10 other Uly's getting the parts they need to live on, or live a better life with better parts.

A Uly part-out is truly a wonderful thing.

As long as the parted out bike is a salvage/wrecked that is fine. Parting out a perfectly good bike should be a crime, especially as every single part on it is still readily available at any Buell dealer.

True Froggy. However, I've never heard of a part-out of a perfectly-good bike though. That's going through alot of needless trouble (e-mailing, packaging, and shipping large/heavy parts) when a complete bike sale will net much more $$$ than the net sum of a part-out.

We are all currently enjoying the relatively generous supply and low cost of used Uly parts and complete bikes. When the supply eventually dries up for both new and used Buell parts, and part prices skyrocket (as what eventually happens to all discontinued brands), I'm sure that will have some of us rethinking our dedication to keeping this brand alive. Hopefully, that's several years or decades from now.

These 3 are just from a quick look at the main page of our classifieds, there is more in the archives, ebay, and other Buell forums.

I rebuilt a trashed KDX-200 with parts sold piece by piece from several perfectly running bikes that had been parted out.

Parting out and selling a bike is a MASSIVE PITA. But it *is* often profitable if you ignore labor costs and ebay hassles.

I was more hoping people would conspire against them so bad web users arent out bidding each other.
I like to see owners part their own bike out. I did that with a 12s that had a broken frame. My problem is the salvage companies that often part very good bikes out when they are easily fixed, I saw this particular bike on Copart about 2 months ago.
Just don't like that company from past experiences.

Hey Froggy,

Thanks for the retort. I looked at your examples. Some nice-looking bikes there, but I can't really consider any of them perfectly-good bikes (to me, low-mileage, mostly stock, under 9 years old). One fell over while being loaded, another was a "project" bike, another had some high-end custom parts on it that most people buying a complete bike probably wouldn't appreciate and be willing to pay extra for, and one was a ~15 yr old bike that wasn't going to be worth much whole either.

People that have sold parts before typically have a system down that minimizes the hassle with packaging and shipping multiple parts, so for them, the hassle may net more $$$, making the effort fruitful, but in general, for mostly-stock bikes without alot of "extras" on it, a part-out isn't gonna net much more money than a whole-bike sale. I'm sure there are people out there that can scour the earth looking for a list of exception bikes, but generally, that's true.

Buells aren't considered a "collector" brand yet by most bikers. They're certainly rare, but rare doesn't always mean valuable, so prices are still generally depressed. That's how you're able to buy 3-4 yr. old low-mileage Buells for less than half what they went for new. Can't do that for most MC brands. That may change sometime, but probably not anytime soon.

One final thought to consider, a part-out of a perfectly running bike is going to be easier to extract funds out of if the bike's "paperwork" is missing or not quite in order for a whole-bike sale.

Cheers.

I bought the seat from this part out for a very good price. It came exactly as described and showed up in three days.
