Looking for muffler for my 2000 M2 cyclone. Prefer a slip on unit but am open to others depending on what's available. Currently have a Vance and Hines that is basically falling apart from the inside out.

I have a White Brothers E-series I've been slowly polishing up, I can send pictures if you're interested, it would be a couple days before I could ship it if you're interested. Not done polishing the elbow yet, have cleaned up the disks and endcap, and checked it out to make sure it's solid.

What kind of money are you thinking? I would be interested. Thanks.

I had hoped to ask $170-ish with the polishing done. You'll want to see it, but I'd be comfortable with around $135 or so as is. Let me get a picture of the parts and you can make a counter offer if you'd like. I'm at work now so can't send a pic until morning. If you'd shoot me a PM I can send the pictures direct to you, but I'll happily post them here as well.

This pipe is susceptible to damage from excess vibrations. It would be best for you acquire an updated front hanger if you haven't got one, if you want the pipe to last. Like the V&H, the shell is somewhat "fragile", though I do think the shell is a thicker aluminum than the V&H, anyway... not so sturdy compared to more robust stainless pipes that were designed with being under the bike in mind.

The "fragile" part kind of worries me a little. I might keep looking for a little bit and if I don't find anything else I might contact you.

Thanks,

That's why I want to get you pictures, so you can see the build quality. Trouble is I'm in the middle of my work week, with back to back 12 hour shifts and it just wipes me out. I have time enough for work and sleep until Thurs, then I can do it.

The Vance tends to fail for several reasons, either you blow out the packing and the thing rattles itself to pieces, or the front hanger cracks at the weld on on the elbow, or the rivets rattle loose and start cutting their way out of the pipe, this also happens once the packing has been blown out.

In all these things except one, the White Bros seems better, more robust, and that would be the front elbow.

Pictures as promised, if you're no longer interested that's fine. Sorry for the delay.

I'd suggest maybe finding another inexpensive V&H one ebay if you like the exhaust note it provides, and just get on a repacking schedule to keep it from beating itself to death. You can also loosen the whole system at the exhaust manifold, then sequentially tighten everything up, a bit at a time make sure to give everything a bit of a jiggle to make sure no one particular exhaust part is under load. This will save the manifold bolts and keep from torquing the muffler in a way that causes stress and fractures over time.

D&D's are pretty bullet proof, and internal disk Supertrapps are very sturdy as well.

Here's the E-series:

Close up to show the gauge of aluminum on the muffler body:

Rear hanger is gorgeous, and the welds are as well:

Front tab is where these may crack. Updated hanger with the better isolator system, plus proper install procedure would help with that.

Anyway, I can finish up the polishing and list in the classifieds or ebay if it's not for you. Just want you to be educated in what this pipe has going on.

I think I'm gonna pass. I think I'm going to try using a universal slip on supertrapp and and fab up an elbow and hangers.

Thanks for all the offers and advice.

Kinda like Mike has on his bike now then?

I've also seen people put a generic glass pack on their bikes, if you can weld you just have to piece together an outlet and the elbow.

Cupcake_mike, pm sent
