First let me say, if you don't plan on buying this, please don't clutter my ad with BS arguments or debate. Save it for the potential buyers.

background thread; http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/693375.html?1347700561

here i have a Works Ultra Sport 3-way adjustable rear shock for tube frame, 14.8", set up for 251# plus rider. (i also have a 16.5" if someone wants it, same price)

it is brand new in the original box, with all paperwork and brackets for reservoir and adjustment tools.

" Special UltraSport shock for Buell pull-shocks with several options for adjustment:
3-Way offers Threaded pre-load (Tpl), High and Low Speed Compression damping adjustments with an Adjustable Compression Reservoir (ACR) unit.
2-Way offers Threaded pre-load (Tpl), Low Speed Rebound damping with a Remote reservoir (Rez).
Also offered is a Threaded pre-load (Tpl) only version. Specify the long or short shock.

The smoothest, best-handling shock available for the Buell. "

it currently costs $1039 plus tax/shipping.

I am asking $850 shipped lower 48.

What would it take to set it up for a different # rider? Just a different spring...or is it internally valved?

i spoke with Works about this, they said they wouldn't recommend changing it unless it was a very light rider.

have to assume weight fully geared etc.

but AFAIK it would just be a spring change.

that 16.4" sounds appealing I must admit.... =\

I'd be interested. But at the risk of "BS arguments or debate" I have to ask, what would make 16.4" more appealing over 14.8"?

no worries, just don't want the thread cluttered with discussions of all the various options of every shock ever offered.

if someone has valid info that is useful to the buyer or seller, fine.

the two different lengths fit the two different mounting brackets, depending on which recall shock was used.

the shocks on tubers are either 14.8" eye to eye, or 16.5" eye to eye.

i bought one of each, since i have 3 tubers, and both lengths. never used them, so i have one of each available. didn't take pics of the 16.5", since they are nearly identical otherwise. if someone is interested, i will take pics and post another ad with the 16.5".

early shocks were 16.4" with a unique forward mounting bracket. Later shocks were shorter and had a different forward bracket.

Bump...

...and question: what rider weight were these shocks setup for?

Never mind, I actually opened my eyes and read the info in the first post...

Doh!

Enjoy the bump anyway, I am trying to justify the cost now for the longer model.

Just out of curiosity: How adjustable are these for someone less than 150 lbs (me)?

depends on how aggressive you ride.

the dampening is fully adjustable, and after getting the preload adjusted, it should be ok.

unless you ride pretty casually, then most likely it will be a bit rough.

i recommend calling Works, they will talk to you for as long as you want. they were very gracious to me when i called. they will give you a fair assessment based on how you ride and your geared up weight.

Rkc00; still plan on getting back to you, have a deal pending.

here are a few pics and quotes from Airbozo, who bought the 16.5".

"Man what a difference this shock makes. Totally different bike. I still have not dialed in the rebound and compression adjustments (any advice is highly appreciated), but even the way it came setup is 1000 times better than the old one."

" I am very happy with the shock. I took the long way home last night, a route consisting of 30 miles through the redwoods and some very twisty roads. Mostly 45mph+ and some tight corners and long sweepers. The bike handled flawlessly and even surprised me how little effort it took to make some hard "S" turns. It didn't handle like that with the original Showa shock. I got home with a huge smile on my face."

Not enough funds. I wish though. Still waiting to pay all my traffic tickets, then save up for my ducati rear wheel... $700... ugh.

I would like to add that I have never worked on a Buell before and it took me about 2 hours to change and adjust the shock.

The shock has loosened up a bit and I am going to adjust the preload again this weekend.

Thanks again Sleez...
