Do you know if this will bolt on to a lightning XB12S? |

It will only fit Ulysses models, and they need to have the sidecase racks installed too in order to use the topcase safely. |

Correctomundo. Install instructions say it will break the tail frame if side case brackets are not installed. |

Thanks guys. Someone once told me that I could install a Ventura pack bracket and the Buell trunk would attached to it. I might have misunderstood them. I would like to put a trunk on my XB12S. |

That price is getting a bit on the high side. It's a $175 with over $80 shipping. |

little bit of a hijack, but I can't imagine why it would possibly break the tail frame without the side case brackets ... unless of course 3 cinder blocks and a bowling ball are put in. The rear bracket has 6 mounting points distributing the weight and without overloading it seems like a perfectly reasonable connection to me all by itself ... for small stuff like a helmet or jacket. Of course anything changed from factory could cause injury and or death but I don't always play by the rules because I'm a wild man (joke). |

Brad, Auctions for those have gone over $400 before for the same two pieces. Hard to come by top mounting rack is a premium apparently.. |

Schwara, It definitely will brake the side frames. A couple years ago I thought it would look better without the side brackets. It did, and seemed ok for a while but after about a month it broke the right side frame. when riding it was empty and just used it to store my helmet. Without the side brackets on the side frames are like a big tuning fork that amplifies the engine vibrations, causing the top case and its bracket to bounce up and down alot more than with the side brackets on. |

Think "diving board". The rack is pretty much unobtanium now...if you want a topcase for your Uly, now's the time. And, it will take ANY Hepco-Becker topcase. They all attach to the mount the same way. I run a 50L Journey topcase on my bike, stock rack, stock side racks and cases. Love it. 2 fullface helmets fit fine. |

Thanks for the rear rack only information. I'ts a great case, but I guess I'll only run with all three or nothing from now on ... not worth breaking anything. I hate to hear that though as it was quite nice to run with that one all by itself though. Oh well ... thanks for the first hand advice and sorry again about the hijack. |

You can run the rear bag only...as long as you have the side RACKS in place. The racks are the structural part, not the bags. |

Thanks again Ratbuell ... although my hijack contains ... sorry again. I figured that was probably true as it appeared that the cases offered nothing structural. I don't personally like the look of the the side brackets without the cases on though. My own vanity. If & when I put the brackets and cases on I guess it will just be all or nothing from here on out. I'll be taking the back off for the time being until I have another occasion for a trip ... probably not till Spring. |
