this is just a feeler for now to see if i should put these up on ebay. i have never seen another pair, and haven't been able to get any production numbers out of Dymag. They are a Black sparklie powder coat, look great in the sun. Only ever been out of the boxes for pics, they are still brand new, never been on a bike!!

what do you think?

If you're pretty darned sure you won't use them, or you need the money right now, yeah, I expect they'd sell.

Since you got 'em out and all, how about putting them on a scale?

If Dymag really went out of business last year, you might not get much information from them. Is there any part number on the box they've never been out of except for pictures?

I always wanted some carbon fiber Dymags. I didn't know metal ones were available ready-to-wear.

i would use them, just haven't yet, and would like the cash for updating the camaro and getting the other tubers finished.

they're back in the boxes, those pics were taken awhile ago. i did weigh them, but don't have the specs on hand. i'll weigh them for sure if someone is seriously interested in them. they were extremely expensive at the time.

i always offer intl shipping. i have sold quite a few items and shipped them all over the world!

Basti is taking them? He said "name your price", from which I infer that means he'll take them at any non-insane price, right?

For reference the Marchesini wheels are 14 lb,15 oz Rear; and 10 lb,8 oz front. So 3½ pounds lighter front, and about 4½ pounds lighter rear. Wow.
Color me envious (and broke!)

there seems to be some confusion in the PMs, these are Magnesium Wheels, racing style, street legal.

"The Street Race TT3 range have been designed with performance motorcycle racing, OE and aftermarket applications in mind. These magnesium motorcycle wheels with their hollow spokes design ensure as much weight saving as possible without compromising on durability or performance as proven by their use in the Isle of Man TT Races and World Endurance Superbikes."

If you don't like the price, you don't have to buy them. Simple as that. You might not think they are worth it, but someone else will. Given that they are extremely rare, and new went for about twice what is asking, it doesn't sound like a bad deal.

Hell, there are people on here spending a grand on a discontinued muffler that originally sold for around $300.

Well, I disagree. *I* would pay over $500 for them. I paid $300 for a pair of used nuclear blue rims just because I like the color so much.

If I believed anything south of $1000 would get these, I would have already stepped up. I wonder how they would look with Nuclear Blue paint.

I just weighed that pair of stock Nuclear Blue wheels, with pulleys, rotors and tires. Of course, different combos have different overall weights but, based on the numbers above, these wheels would reduce the final unsprung weight of my wheels by 14% front and 12% rear. That's a bunch.

Of course, that percentage shrinks when you add the weight of the calipers, fork tubes and half the weight of the swingarm. PDOOMA estimates for those numbers would leave the final result around 10% less unsprung weight. That's 10% less that your dampers have to control and therefore, less force transmitted to the chassis.

It's not just bragging rights. There are real reasons why you'd want to do it. If they're a bolt-in replacement (same rotors and pulley), yeah, I'd do a grand. I suspect others would as well.

Well, I'm holding $1000 in my hand and don't really want them and he's holding the wheels in his hand and not really wanting to sell them. Neither of us is motivated to budge and I think we're both OK with that, right Sleez?

I'm not saying I wouldn't honor the offer but, just not sure what I'd do with them. I want the S1 to be orange/nuke blue after the repaint. I like the S2 in white/white and the character in the S3 is the orange frame and wheels. All three need a specific color and sparkly black aint it. Repainting these wheels would be a crime.

Ebay really is probably the right route, without a reserve. It seems risky but if everybody knows that they are REALLY going to sell (no reserve to worry about), the bidding should be more aggressive at the end--bid to win. Nobody will be sitting there nudging the price for a week and seeing "reserve not met" and not going for it.

I got sniped on an M2 breadbox yesterday. WTF?

Froggy; thanks, exactly what i was thinking, but my blood was boiling a bit.

Greg_cifu; i think i can agree with you.

it's not that i want to "rip off" anyone, i just know if i sell them cheap, i'll never see another set, and therefore never own another set. if i put them on one of my bikes, their value drops considerably, a quandary indeed. if i put them on ebay and they sell for more than orig. price, i may be ok with that, but would still miss them.

Moxnix; no, these are 17s, easier to get tires for.

I'm hoping they don't sell before I get my income tax refund !

These are an updated style of the Dymags I used to fantasize about, way back before carbon fiber.

i doubt they will sell anytime soon, nobody seems to value them above OEM wheels.

the way i look at it, these were expensive new, and since they are no longer available at any price, they should be worth more. maybe in another 20 years????

kinda like some of the aftermarket exhausts, they are no longer being made, and any remaining new condition ones are worth gold!

the market will set the price, i guess!

i'm in no hurry, if they don't sell, i'll put them on one of my tubers and enjoy them.

The other thing that's happened is advancing technology has narrowed the gap between carbon fiber wheels and other choices.

absolutely right Court,

these are the Magnesium ones, and as far as i know, CF wheels for tubers (if you can find some) cost at least twice what these would. and, i have actually seen a few CF sets on bikes, never seen this set in magnesium. that's why i snapped them up.
