There is a special place in hell reserved for people who part out perfect Buells for their engines.

Why don't you show a little intelligence and ride that thing like it is? No piece-of-shit bobber/chopper is worth cutting up that bike.

Just saying what dozens of others are already thinking but are too polite to post.

..+++++++++ to what everyone has said..keep it together an ride it...add ons as you go....i have been with my '00 X-1 Lightning and i like it quite alot(excessive grin factor while riding and even looking at it in the garage);character if you will. There's alot of things to add to their bike to your liking and then some....just look here on this forum at the "folks" X-1's...i could go on with all the names but i won't as there are so many of them.LT

While I think it's silly to turn an X1 into a bobber... I suppose it's your bike and your business.

But why no title? This isn't some barn find from 1971.

Are you willing to post the VIN? That would give us some confidence on the forum here that the bike and offers for sale are legit.

He'd probably have a hard time keeping and riding it if the frame has NO title.

You guys crack me up. I don't know how it works in SC but in CA, the title stays with the engine. There are lots of frames on eBay with the same situation for that very reason.

Thats good to know, title stays with the frame everywhere else as far as I know.

I also hate to see a perfectly good and rare-ish bike like a X1 get parted out, but he can do whatever he likes with it.

The bike is for sale in South Carolina (AFAIK).

I'm not trying to bust anyone's chops, but we don't want people on this forum to be party to either parting out stolen bike, or to be scammed by somebody pretending to part out a bike they don't have.

Nothing personal against Spencer, and we don't always police the classified adds, but the combination of the fact that he is a new poster and the fact that the frame doesn't have a title make me a little nervous.

I didn't know that Florida has the title follow the motor. That makes no sense. People often swap out motors, but rarely keep a motor and swap out the rest of the car.

Ahhh! I get it now. He wants the title to register the bobber with. Sounds iffy to me, and I'd never buy a bike where that was done... but I suppose it would get you under the radar if you were lucky.

If that's the case though, you ought not to be selling the frame. Store it in the garage and sell it along with the bobber when it's time to move on.

the frame could be used for a race application.

In south carolina the dmv doesnt need to even see the vehicle to register it, so if you wanted to build a bobber, it would be easy to use the title to the buell.

It could, but keeping the title and using the VIN, then selling the frame (with that same VIN) to another person without the title... seems at best reckless, and at worst unethical. IMHO, YMMV.

I got a KLR-250 as a parts bike to fix a KLR-250 I blew up, and it came without a title (but with a bill of sale). I took the VIN, ran a check to make sure it wasn't reported stolen, stripped the frame, and put the frame in a dumpster. It seemed like the right thing to do.

Hey fu<k sticks, I regret even trying to help you guys out with the parts now. I thought I'd take the time to actually try to help the Buell riders out there with whatever parts I have that you do not. If I knew this would be a bashing board I wouldn't have wasted my time going as far as to even typing the website in. For all of you mouthy ass clowns, not calling names(Reepicheep), but I do have the title for the frame and whether I use it to title a Buell engine in a Vespa scooter or whatever I so decide to do, it's simply NONE OF YOUR F<CKING BUSINESS! Your mom never taught you that? I'm telling you, you chose the wrong person to pick on brother. For all of those left that are not ignorant, the frame can be used for a track bike if you so choose. I was always hesitant about joining any kind of forum and now I remember why. Thanks guys! Before I'm kicked off for violating the site rules or what other silly things you guys abide by on here, those that are nonjudgmental, PM me and I would be glad to help you out with getting any parts you may need to KEEP YOUR BUELL ON THE ROAD. For goodness sakes I'm sorry for flushing everyones goldfishes.

You can help us by keeping the bike in one piece, and selling it to someone who appreciates it for what it is, then use the money to buy a wrecked bike to pull the motor out of, or a scooter.

No offense intended sbt. Almost every time we have had trouble with fraud in the classifieds, it was when somebody showed up out of the blue and started selling stuff.

The fact that you were new to the site and selling the parts and the frame, and not volunteering the VIN, but said you had NO title was fishy. Not fishy enough that we would pull your posts and suspend you, but enough that I (a site custodian) felt it worth asking a few more questions.

Reread both my posts. All you had to do was post and say "I have the title, but I need it for my project, so if you want the frame it would have to be for a track bike or something".

Or even "you are right reepicheep, a frame that you can't title is effectively worthless, I might as well just keep it so it can go with the bobber if I ever have to sell it for some reason. But if somebody is in a bind and needs a cheep frame for a track bike, shoot me a note."

Your response was certainly more entertaining though, and the picture was actually really cool. : ) Is that Johnny Cash?

I'll take offense. Come onto a hard core Buell lover's forum, put the chop to a gorgeous x1, then spew that filth when you get some MILD comments?

Bet this guy's a sweetheart in the world.

With the shut down of Buell MC these should not be parted out anymore. Plain and simple. I think most people in the motorcycle world would agree that this is a bad thing to do! Anyone with extensive knowledge and love of motorcycle can see that its wrong to part these out just for motors. Its really stupid as hell and you that do it just show how low class you really are. Probley for some stupid project that wont last a year on the road before its stuck in a ditch or parted out again. Right?

Nice head-explosion...though that wasn't my intent.

Dude: before you do something really stupid, step away from that bike for a second and really think it through. Take a look on Ebay and Craigslist for all the unfinished, piece-of-shit Buell bobber and chopper projects. The country is full of them--seriously. The chopper thing is done. Bolting together one more ain't going to be any major contribution to the motorcycle gene pool.

I look at Buell classifieds coast-to-coast, EVERY NIGHT. I saw your Craigslist ad the night you posted it and I thought I even posted about it here (can't find the post right now).

There are lots of Buells out there but, the number of clean, unmolested ones is shrinking every day. Buells are probably worth as little as they're ever going to.

I don't know how old you are or how long you've been riding but, British bikes went through this in the 80s. You couldn't turn around without falling over a Triumph, BSA or Norton and they had zero resale value. What is a chopped Norton worth today? The salvageable parts. Chopped Triumph? Parts. Unless you're Arlen Ness, nobody cares about some guy's stick-welded, girder-fork, bondo'd frame, metalflake abortion from 1978.

You still have a chance to make the right choice and enjoy one of the coolest freakin' bikes made in the last 20 years. Or you can destroy it.
