I have a 2000 X1 and it had the 16.5 inch shock on there but it went bad so i bought the updated 14 inch shock but I had to buy the front mounting bracket. i would suggest asking the seller look at this for help http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/432556.html?1233639936
