Well after many years and not so many miles, I am selling my faithful X1. Many reasons bring me to this point, but there it is. Here is the critical info:

Description:
2001 Buell X1 Lightning; White Body Work on Nuclear Blue Tube Frame.

Modifications:
1250 kit with valve work. Work completed by JT&S Performance at Infineon Raceway.
Penske Performance Shock.
Super Trapp Stainless Steel Slip On Muffler.
K&N Air Filter.
CRG Adjustable Bar End Mirrors (2).
Trojan Horse Hand Beaten Aluminum. Undertray with Lock.

Accessories and Parts:
Original Stock Muffler.
Original Stock Shock Absorber.
Original Stock ECM.
Original Stock Mirrors (2).
Original Stock Cylinders and Pistons (2).
Buell Air Filter (like new).
Technoresearch Buell/VDO Vehicle. Diagnostic Scan Tool for PDA including case (new).
Buell Knee Pucks (new).
Buell Owners Service Manual.
Buell Ratchet Strap.
Galfer Braided Stainless Steel Brake Line (new in package).
Foot Peg Assembly Left (new in package).
Buell Sling Bag (excellent condition).
Buell Textile Riding Pants with Padding (excellent condition).

I dropped the bike when I first got it while barely moving, replaced all affected parts with new. No lasting damege, all cosmetic.

9000 miles. I ride my RT way more as it fits me much better.

I think $5k firm is a good place for me to be for the entire package.

Am I a fool whistfully wishing for more than I should? Or am I only a grasshopper dreaming that I am a man...a man with a Buell X1...a man with a Buell X1 and a will to sell that X1...do grasshoppers dream in color?

Contact me through the Badweb if you are interested.

ps. If you plan on posting sarcastic remarks or insults in this thread, please post only quality sarcasm and insults...There's a sale going on here!!!

What size are those pants? And how much would you need for them and the jugs n piston set up?

And, since you asked: IMHO the bike itself is worth about 2500. Don't be mad at me, just the market.

I know cali is a different world though, call your movie star friends. I know Brad Pitt is a bike fan, do you know him?

The bike is worth 5k alone, that's what my market analysis tells me. Yes, I do know Brad Pitt. In fact, he is over for dinner right now...he says for me to tell you the bike alone is worth 5k. I told him that I already told you that.

The pants are large and have hip area padding and pretty solid knee pad inserts. They are GREAT pants...but when I am on my RT it looks stupid. My goal is to sell all as a package for $5k, which is the same amount that the Smithsonian Institute told me I should sell it for. However, if that fails...then I will look at parting the stuff out.

Thanks for looking!

Tom,

I am trying to sell all as a package, but if that fails then I will part stuff out. But I am going to really try to sell as a package.

FYI it's only here in the States that tubers are going for low prices. In Europe and Japan they pay top euro, top yen, top pound, or whatever.

Fahren,

Your post confirms the unfortunate fact that Europe has always had a much higher estimation of Buell than the unwinable Yanks. What a shame! Buell is a great line.

I don't think most Buell owners have any idea how bad the market is until they try to sell their bike...

You have a nice looking bike you might be better selling the bike then parting out the stuff you have like I would be interested in the rear tire cover you have on the Buell banner. K

There was a nice x1 on eBay last week that got all the way up to $1700. There are a couple on here for $2500 now. Your bike is bad ass, it has some nice stuff on it and comes with a few hundred worth of extras. I hope you get 5, but if you want it to move, I'm just sayin... More bikes than buyers right now. California may be different, but I doubt it.

Do you know Matt Damon too?

Damon is at MY house, lowballing me on my 1125R. I told him I would swap for his S3T, but he would have to throw in something to sweeten the deal. Like a couple of bottles of Sam Adams. Or Rhode Island.

Yeah Damon tries to hang out at my house too. I usually tell him I am helping my son with his algebra and am not available! It's really a crack up...

Jon I had that same bike with 20000 miles. Got $5500 for it 11 months ago. All depends what the buyer is looking for and condition.

+1 to Glover. The bike has all the right mods, and someone that's looking for those would be willing to pay it to save their pocket of buying them afterward. Yes, the market in general sucks, but there's always people who ignore the "market" and use their judgement and pocketbook to buy.

11 months ago buell was still a company building great bikes, backed by probably the biggest (unreaserched) dealer network in the world. Today we are more like crocker or excellsior Henderson, collector pieces. Come up with a story about James Dean's ghost sitting on it one night when you happened into the garage and caught him off guard but ended up drinking a beer, learning the secrets of the universe and that his spirit was going to dwell within the beautiful curves of this particular machine for eternity protecting it and its rider from all evil and stupid, distracted cagers on their cell phones forever. Shit, just writing that makes me want to give you double what its worth.

One of the universe's truths is this...that even really good french toast gets boring after a while. Ya gotta mix it up...throw in a grapefruit or a fried egg.

Nice bike. If it was me, I would sell the "extra" the stuff separately and lower the price of the bike to $4500. But then again you are not me and I am not you...

Jon, I do hope that I am wrong! I would love nothing more than to be proved an inaccurate evaluator of current Buell values! I hope this Craig Guy does you right. What are your measurements? I think that I am probably an XL Guy for the pants but marriage stress has slimmed me down recently.

The drama continues...will Brandon wear Jon's pants? Where does Craig fit in to the triangle? Will Jon dump the Buffalo for...anyone?? Could CRAIG end up wearing the pants? And what IS on that secret list of his anyway?

Tune in next time...As The Buell Turns.

the problem with the market is that we do the market.
so, if we keep those prices up and don't get panicked after the first 2-3 days the bike is not selling, I guess who wants a Buell will have to pay what the market is asking.
and I'm sure there's still more than one person out there willing to have a tuber in his garage.

Dats if you want a non-dramatic exchange of information, read a ticker tape. This thread is filled with suspense, DRAMA, and action. More action than a Jim Rockford car chase, more drama than a 99 fuel injected X1, and more suspense than the ending of The Empire Strikes Back.
