This is a one owner 95 S2 with the original owners manual, it has been female ridden since it was bought brand new at Appleton Harley. I just took her out today and it runs perfect!

The bike is in great shape for being 15 years old! It also has a new rear tire on it (only the second one that has ever been mounted)!

3200 miles, clean and clear title!

Interesting Mirror setup, can you comment on those (who makes them)?

Looks pretty close to stock but it looks like it has a straight pipe on it instead of the stock muffler, is that correct?

It also appears the license plate mount has been cut down a bit.

Original Brake Rotor looks great...

Nice looking bike and close to original. Is the Signature Series stuff with the bike. (Timing Cover, mini build sheet and letter?

Also check out the rear swingarm brake mount.....I remember a discussion on these a while back... That is the original setup.

It depends on when it was built.

I never understood the "Hand Built" advertisements since all Buells are "Hand Built"... It is just the difference of where it was built.

One of the reasons I asked for the VIN...

Frank- You have an amazing eye. The license plate bracket has been trimmed, it is running a straight pipe.

The mirrors are off an import bike (totally unsure which bike). The original mirrors are not available.

The build sheet and letter are there as well as the timing cover. The timing cover was removed the day it rolled off the showroom floor.

That may because it's a late year assembly.
That's odd as the swing arm is an early 95.

Brad, you are correct. It is a later build... The Swingarm threw me off as I thought it would be a very early build... I do not have one of those swingarms but am always looking for one.

Chris, the early 95 fenders and the latter 95 fenders and the 96 fenders are little different (shape and thickness). Only an eagle-eye like Brad would spot that.

I had a conversation with a couple of S2 guys (actually I am not sure if one was a S2 guy as he was a HD employee) about the fender..... Strange things we find to talk about sometimes... LOL

There is some debate on this but what I believe is this.

The swingarm on that bike (like everything else) is pre recall. It does not look like any recalls have been done on that bike (I would keep it that way as well)...

The recall for the shock is divided into two areas, 1995 - 1996 S2s and S2-Ts, and everything else. That does not mean that the swingarm in question came on the other bikes (M2, S1, S3 etc).... It simply was a replacement for the swingarm eye mount. I guess they figured the swingarm they use on the other bikes will work for the S2s...

At least that is what I think.

Just curious, what # is this bike? Mine is #814 (later build) and had the same fender, but not the swingarm. Of course that could've been fixed with the recall. I think I would add the speedo cable safetly clip though, and the center fairing support bracket if it doesn't have it. Hard to tell from the photos.

Depending on the VIN . . . the bodywork would have been cut from material, laid up into molds by hand, formed, glassed, heated and shaped by hand . . . rolled about 50' to the South . . where is would have been trimmed. . . . another 75' feet South to be racked (the S2's had the bodywork mounted on "bucks" so that the metallic paint appeared just right) and painted . . then rolled out about 60' to the East to be polished.

Much of the S2 was truly "created" . . as opposed to "assembled".

And if someone wanted to "restore" the mirrors, there was an old thread about a certain type of snowmobile mirrors (IIRC) that looked almost identical to the S2's, but w/o the wiggly boot/sleeve.

Anyone thoughts on maintaining? Relatively old, and with Harley killing Buell are there issues to think about for parts.It's a Sportster engine if I understand, which I would think would be the main issue and maybe a non issue as a result of it being a Harley and they didn't kill themselves. How about 2 up for shorter distances? Roughly 5-30 mile trips.

These mirrors look to be on ebay listed as Buell/Aprilia/Moto Guzzi/ ... There's also an S2 mirror listed.
Would anyone care to fess up having the Black Sapphire tailpiece that was ebayed from Arizona last year?

Bob- Well the nice this is, it is carbed so there is definitely a simplicity there, of course the other simplistic aspect is it is still a v-twin.

Im not positive, but the belt on the S2 looks a LOT like the standard harley belts and Im willing to bet there is a cross-reference p/n.

As far as 2-up, I would imagine it would be slightly better than a sportbike but no wheres near as comfy as the Uly. But for the short trips, I would think it would be fine. For the rider, the bike is extremely comfy and you could do some pretty long days on it for sure.

But those are all my opinions, so take them for what they are worth.

The belt is a stock sportster belt. I replaced my first broken belt with my old sporty belt. The bike rides fine two-up IMHO, and as for solo- I put 1420 miles on mine in 2 days with no issues, comfort or mechanical. Most all of the parts are a non-issue. Even the bodywork is duplicated and available from Airtech. The motor is a bone stock sporty motor with European gearing, the controls are 82-95 HD, the forks and rear shock can be rebuilt by many suspension companies, the front isolator is FXR, rears are softail IIRC, and wheels, swingarm, and other parts are a dime a dozen on eBay. I've modified, replaced or removed almost every single part on my bike with no issues and less than 10 parts were bought at a dealership.
