I really don’t want to do this, but due to a life change I just don’t ride anymore (my Buell was used for commuting but I don't commute anymore!).

The bike is my 2004 XB12S. It is red with only 3,879 miles. The bike has a new battery (2008), new Michelin Pilot Powers (2008), and Mobil 1 (2008) at 3,000 miles. The 1,000 mile maintenance was done on schedule. Other add-ons include Rizoma mirrors, Buell Comfort Seat, Pucks, Sliders, Belt Buckle Guard, and service manual. It is set up with a trickle charger as well. This bike is 100% ready to go, and needs nothing other than an owner who will ride it once and a while. It will be a happy addition to any garage. The bike has only been used as a commuter, has not been ridden hard or laid down.

Since I am not riding anymore, you can have my TourMaster jacket and pants, Buell full-gauntlet gloves, and full-face HJC helmet. I am 5’ 10”, 225 pounds and they fit nicely. I have some tie-downs (used once when I picked up the bike) you can have as well.

Like me, the bike is in NE Ohio. I will work with you on delivery or shipment, and can deliver it ~400 miles or so (if you don't mind me riding it to you).

If you would like pics, let me know at dpoole44140@gmail.com,

The price is $5,000.

Thanks!

How can I add to the debate?

It's the real deal. I only rode it to work (Bay Village to downtown Cleveland is a great 16 mile, lake side ride) and now I work at home. I put my way through college as a motorcycle mechanic (age 49 now). I love bikes, and take great care of them, but with a nine-year old, a seven-year old, and a new business, I don''t have the time. What made riding work for me when I bought the bike was that "I was going to the office anyway"; I worked riding into my daily grind. Now there is no commute, so there is no riding. I took it out today to get the dust off, but prior to that it hadn't even been STARTED since early-May.

Let me know if you want more pics or if you have any questions. Again, thanks.

Better to wear out than rust out!

well, I have a 2006 HD Sportster 1200 custom right now. I bought it used last year with 700 miles. I did not ride on the street for 4 or 5 years. I thought I'd be OK with the cruiser. Now, that I'm dragged back into the two-wheeled addiction, I need the cornering capability again.

So, do I keep the Sportster and buy something like this and have two cycles, two sets of tires, two inspections, two insurance, registrations... yada yada yada or just wait for my local dealer to get a 2010 1125cr and trade the Custom in???

what to do? what to do?

My advice is forget about the Sportster, regardless of whether you pick a Lightning or an 1125. I rode many bikes with the people at HD Corporate in Milwaukee and, IMHO, both bikes will make the Sporty quite obsolete for you. Do you have a wife that would like the Sportster?

If you sold the Sporty and bought my Buell, how would you do for cash flow? (I don't know what a used Sportster is worth these days) About even? Perhaps there is a friend who would buy the Sporty? That would be more of a hassle, but little incremental expense. The 1125 swap you described would be easy but more pricey.

If it were me, and I only wanted one bike, it would be a Lightning. The 1125 looks like it would be hard on one's back after a while (the Firebolt was hard for me). As far as cornering, the Lightning was fun at Mid-Ohio when I took an experienced rider course. There was a pylon drill, and no one - not even the instructor - could hit it every time. Rusty old me, on the Buell, never - NEVER - missed. The bike is phenomenal in the corners.

How old are you, and how is your back? Do you ride for long periods of time? That would be my biggest fear of an 1125; there is a section on BWB on the 1125, and they may have some comments on the issue (if it IS an issue for you).

The only thing I can say with a decent amount of confidence is that if you have a Lightning or an 1125 in your garage, a Sporty would collect dust.

Anyone else have a thought?

Seeing all the others makes me think the answer is finding another place/time to ride. Nice looking bike!

Saw a lot of nice rice on the road today (while in the minivan). Need to get out there...
