Buelliedan,I just threw a price out there. The front wheel is over $700 alone; the rear over $800.I'm not doubting you bro, but the difference in whether they totaled my bike this summer came down to the cost of replacing the slightly "dinged" front wheel that was easily straightened by classic components. The front got bent on the edge and the rear sustained a "nick" to the left edge. I know people generally like to get things for free or close to it, I'm not in need of cash or feeling xtra charitable at the moment. I'll put them on a chopper project or turn them into chandeliers or something.
Jason, I hope your question was answered in there somewhere.E-mail me and we'll discuss an arrangement. I put new bearings in just prior to wiping out on a mystery anti-freeze patch down at Deal's Gap this August. All the thread holes are perfect, wheels run true again. I picked up a set of marchesinis real right and had them chromed for the price of replacing the front wheel. While talking to the wheel place (after the fact) I discovered the can repair almost anything you can bend. So I have an extra set of wheels now....the end.

You go Dog! PM's are a premium item, they're gonna fetch a premium price.

Buell-Dan, near as I can tell if you keep badgering folks on this site they're just gonna take stuff straight to e-bay without givin us Buellers a first shot. Sorta like what you do now. Lighten up and let the market decide.

Now, who knows if Thunderstorm heads and pistons are still available new from Buell dealers? Quanto questo?

Woof woof,
Lornce

TwoDogs,
yea whatever. I only responded because you were asking why nobody was buying. If you don't want an answer why did you ask?? Go ahead and put those "bent" PMs on e-bay and see what you get.

Lornce,
So why don't you buy his precious PMs then?

Phat-j,

Thanks for the input, partner. Tell me more, I'm listenin....

With T-Storm heads, pistons, S1 cams and a bit'o jet twiddlin I could take a 76hp S2 and bring it to 100(cshp) like a '98 S1W or S3, no?

My Thunderstormed '96 S1 is making 75ft/lbs at 3k, 83ft/lbs at 4.5k and 90rwhp at 6.5k. I like the way that works. I've only got seat of the pants impressions of my '98 S3, but it feels even stronger than the S1... and it's smoother. (Do S3's have heavier Sporster flywheels, like the S2's?)

I'm planning to get into a stock S2 now, and I'd like to mod it in a similar manner. Maybe even some 1250 Millenium nikasil barrels and forged pistons...

What sort of results would an XB top end produce? What advantages would it have over the above motor configurations? What's involved?

I'd appreciate any info you can offer, pal.

best,
Lornce

Muelclaude, You might want to look in the storm fronts section.

If you go to the Knowledge Vault section and search "xb heads" you can read some of Aaron's posts on t-storm vs. xb head conversions.I think he expects about a 5hp increase with the xb's.

Some drawbacks are;the tubers front engine mount needs to be slotted on the one hole(which imo sounds like a possibly dangerous option)or get a billet mount($)

You have to drill and tap the bosses where the carb bracket goes.

You could get the squish band remachined for an aftermarket piston or go with the flat top xb12 pistons(i'm not sure if i have this part correct)

Also,i may be wrong ,but i think the xb heads come bare(no valves, etc.)

Still,it seems the xb heads(or possibly the new Sportser xb style heads) are the new hot set-up for the tube frames.

Oh,the stock pushrods lengths???I don't know.

Jrh,

Thanks for the info. Sounds more involved ($$$) than I want to get.

What size S&S cyls and Wiseco pistons are you running on your M2? What are the results?

cheers,
Lornce
