As for purchasing, they're only about $35 for the pair at your friendly neighborhood Buell dealer. I'll probably be corrected again on the price

I only paid $17 per side for the X1 brackets. Why not get the X1 brackets and cut off the excess with a Dremmel?

My buddy made a common Bonehead mistake and left the disk lock on his '96 S1. The lock came around and cracked the front brake caliper mounting braket on the front forks. I'm sorry....I know I'm horrible with terminology, but it is the braket that is actually part of the forks that the front caliper mounts to. I think you all probably know what I mean, I just don't know what to call it.

He was told that he would have to buy an entire fork tube to get the braket that he needs. Does anyone have an extra one laying around they're willing to part with? Let me know.

Are the S1's like the M2's? I have a single front rotor, but a second caliper mounting boss's on the other side. Can he just switch the rotor and caliper to the other side?

I'm not sure if it's like the M2...I've got an S1 as well. We've got inverted front forks....do the M2's have inverted forks as well??

I know he's trying to keep it as factory as possible, and would just like to replace the broken piece if at all possible.

If it smacked it hard enough to break the mount then it's worth it to either replace the damaged tube or at the very least get the damaged one magnafluxed or x-ray'd or otherwise inspected to check for unseen structural damage. An external visual inspection will not be sufficient.

One of the last things I want to fail while riding is a front fork.

ya can't swap them side to side, as the brake would then be on the front . . . . . .

as Mike sez, get the sucker checked (manga won't work with Aluminum, but there is a process for that), having your wheel come adrift would ruin your entire morning

having replaced a number of parts due to similar situations, I got a big old red "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" ribbon that attaches to my lock . . . .

AW.. F&S Buell in Dayton Ohio (1-800-783-2222) had some sort of Corbin seat for a tuber sitting in back on a pile of clearance junk. No idea of the cost, nor which bike it went with, but it might be worth a call. In my experience, they are good folks to deal with.

Reep..I didn't know you was near the Dayton area....I'm over toward Springfield..the little village of Enon! I deal with Doug, one of the Mech's at F&S a lot..well use to when he was at Mid-Ohio..he got me in on the dyno afterwards to do tuning with the LSR bike...Gary their, is absolutley one of the best HD tech's in the country IMO. I guess he got all healed up from his auto accident last year or the year before.
