Listed in Toronto ON:
Private Sale 2006 Buell CityX XB9SX, Kick Ash in colour, 3 pieces of Buell soft luggage, completely stock and trouble free. Very low mileage of 3,554 original owner lady driven kms. Never dropped, never abused, clear title. Asking $8,500

Listed in Athens GA:
Dealer has for sale 2006 BUELL Lightning CityX XB9SX $6,500

New Bern, NC Dealer has another 2006 BUELL Lightning CityX XB9SX with zero miles.... $6,500 again

Since the US and CAN dollars are at par, why not try selling your US bike to a Canadian brother or sister and squeeze the best deal for both of you?? It looks like win-win.

Import Taxes are not a factor since we have to pay only the same taxes as if the bike was bought in CAN anyhow. There is no import duty on used bikes. It seems like an obvious marketplace to exploit??

Am I missing something?}

Sorry for the lack of clarity. I'll try to add a little maybe?

In the US, there is a low priced, large inventory of bikes compared to Canada so to get your top dollar for your bike, advertise it for sale in Canada as well as locally.

BTW... The smaller marketplace of Canada (1/10th the size of the US marketplace) might be compensated for by the cheaper pricing of a US bike. Also there is more consumer spending happening right now in Canada than in the US. If you have to sell a bike, why not advertise it northward too?

Thanks for clarifying.

Coincidentally, I did buy a used XB9S from a fellow Badwebber in the US a couple of months ago. As much as I hate the idea of not supporting the local economy, the price it was offered at made it too attractive to pass up.

Like I said in an other post it's just plain stupid that our prices, even on brand new bikes, are so much higher then the US. The only dealer I know that dropped hes price a bit is in Vancouver and he is letting go the 08 12s for 10400$ and 12 r for 9900$ other than that all I have seen is over 11k

Most people can't be bothered to travel 16 hours round trip to get a deal on a bike. I did it 3 times in less than a year! HA!!
Then again, I work with solvents...

I would be embarrassed to tell you how much I paid for my S3T from a Harley dealership. I had no idea how much they were selling for until I joined the BadWeb. But I will tell you that I would gladly pay it again as it is the most BadAss, entertaining at all speeds (even all the way up to the posted limit) bike that I have ever owned or ridden.

Newbuellertoo:

Like you, I too realize now that I paid way too much for my S3 at a Canadian Dealership. I just fell in love with the bike, did no research whatsoever, had never even ridden a bike before! (riding it out of the dealership lot was.... well it's funny now - horrific then lol)I just knew that I loved the look of this new thing in my life - and I was right to get her. One of the few emotion based decisions I have made in life perhaps.
The joy of life I have had since I started riding last year was worth every penny! Like you said, "entertaining" explains it all.
Maybe we should have a support group for "Buellers who paid too much"

Xodot,
I'm assuming you bought yours in Barrie which is at least a Buell dealer. The dealer in Richmond Hill clearly did not want this bike in their shop. Look at the Pic on my profile so you can get an idea of how much chrome is on there and how out of place it looked in their showroom. The owner actually was the one who sold me the bike. No complaints though. They dropped the price $1000.00 the week before I went to look at it and when asked, put a new set of tires on "No Charge". One of their technicians is a Buell guy and everyone was actually very helpful and friendly. My ride home started with a shaky spurt across the street and an hour of riding in the empty Multiplex parking lot before attempting the Yonge St. traffic back home. Looking forward to riding with another Buell this year. A "Timmies" and some twisties in your neck of the woods sounds great.
